1. Happy Easter : Celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter is observed as one of the holiest celebrations in Christianity worldwide. Marking the end of the Holy Lent season.

2. President Droupadi Murmu has extended her greetings to all citizens living in India and abroad on the eve of Easter. She said, this festival is a symbol of love and compassion.

3. President Droupadi Murmu took a historic sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. The President, who is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, flew for nearly 30 minutes covering Brahmaputra and Tezpur valley with a view of Himalayas before retu.

4. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to three southern states of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka from Saturday. In Telangana, the Prime Minister dedicated to the nations the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar electrification and doubling project. He also launched re-development project of Secunderabad railway station, 13 new MMTS services, 6 national highway stretches and construction work of AIIMS Bibinagar.

5. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) Phase -I at Chennai Airport on 08 Apr (Saturday).

6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Karnataka. He will visit Bandipur Tiger Reserv & Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve today. PM will be meeting Karnataka CM B Bomma and the team who was portrayed in the Oscar-winning documentary film, Elephant Whisperers.

7. Centre Government is expanding the number of medical colleges and also ensuring medicine can be studied in local languages.

8. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will be on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh from 09 Apr (Monday). On the first day of his visit, he will launch the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ in Kibithoo, a border village in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

16. Andhra Pradesh government transfers 39 IPS officers. Chief secretary Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy on Saturday issued orders transferring and posting 39 IPS officers of the state. The transfers have come within a day of state government transferring IAS officers.

17. Following allegations and counter allegations between the ruling YSR Congress MLA Namburu Sankara Rao from Pedakurapadu Assembly segment and Opposition Telugu Desam former MLA Kommalapati Sridhar to prove charges of graft, Section 144 has been promulgated at Amaravati in Palnadu district from 9 pm on Saturday till 5 pm on Sunday for maintenance of law and order.

18. Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Kolar rally was postponed again and will reportedly be held on April 16.

19. Bihar government on Saturday issued transfer orders to 36 IAS and 26 IPS officers. State Transport Commissioner Seema Tripathi will be the new Special Secretary, Art, Culture and Youth department.

CRIME REPORT/MISHAPS

1. Election Commission of India seized 66 kg silverware worth ₹39 lakh, allegedly belonging to Boney Kapoor, on the outskirts of Karnataka’s Davanagere on Friday. The items were seized at a check post near Hebbalu toll in the poll-bound state. As per India Today, the silverware was being transported without proper documents from Chennai to Mumbai in a BMW car.

2. Congress has accused the Centre of “violating the Constitution and freedom of speech” over its recent amendments to Information Technology Rules, 2021. Congress claimed that the new rules were aimed at “censorship and control of world wide web”. These rules include prohibiting online games involving betting and setting up government fact-checking provisions to curb the spread of false information.

3. Several posters against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi appeared in Chennai on Saturday. The posters, which had CM MK Stalin’s picture and the DMK flag, carried the slogans “Dictator Ravi” and “Get Out Ravi”. This comes after Stalin criticised the Governor for his remarks on withholding Assembly bills sent to him for assent.

4. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju survived a road accident after his car was hit by a truck in Banihal area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Saturday. A video has surfaced online showing Rijiju getting out of the car. No injuries were reported in the incident. Rijiju is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

5. 20 rescued after fire breaks out in 12-storey building in Thane
A major fire broke out in a 12-storey building in Thane’s Bhiwandi on Saturday. The building that houses 48 flats was filled with smoke after the blaze erupted around 2:15 pm.

6. A police complaint has been filed in West Bengal against two girls who uploaded a Facebook video mocking the National Anthem. It purportedly showed the girls singing the National Anthem using wrong lyrics, while sitting and holding cigarettes. After deleting the Facebook account, they reportedly went live on another social media platform and said the video was “made for fun”.

ARMY, NAVY, IAF GET 6 MORE MONTHS FOR EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT: The Indian Army, Navy and Air Force are in the process of signing over 100 contracts under the emergency procurement powers given to them.These powers were first given to the armed forces after the 2016 Uri attack to help them circumvent the slow bureaucratic system of procurement.

2. Indian Navy on 6th April 2023 conducted the bi-annual coordinated Exercise PRASTHAN along with other defence, state and civilian agencies in the offshore area development off Mumbai.
