isro launches 36 oneweb satellites

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ (99th episode) programme on All India Radio at 11 AM .

2. ISRO successfully launches 36 satellites for OneWeb. The 36 satellites lifted off at 9 am on Sunday were sent into the space onboard India’s largest LVM3 rocket. The ‘OneWeb’ in the its name refers to the UK-based OneWeb Group Company, with which the space agency had signed a commercial agreement to launch seventy-two satellites to low-earth orbits. In this mission, LVM3 would place 36 OneWeb Gen-1 satellites totalling about 5,805 kg into a 450 km circular orbit with an inclination of 87.4 degrees. This is the sixth flight of LVM3

3. Prime Minister Modi on Saturday inaugurated ‘Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research’ (SMSIMSR) & ‘Sri Sathya Sai Rajeswari Memorial Block’, a totally-free-of-cost medical college and hospital, at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli in Chikkaballapura district.

4. The Union Health Ministry has asked the States and Union Territories to keep a close watch on the evolving causes of diseases including COVID-19, Influenza Like illness (lLl) and Severe Acute Respiratory illness (SARI) in the country.

5. Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav said, the Udhampur- Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project will be completed by Jan-Feb 2024.

6. In Jammu and Kashmir, the 270 km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) which connects Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed for vehicular traffic last night due to landslides.

7. As many as one lakh tribal people from 30 Assam districts to take out a “Chalo Dispur” programme under banner of RSS-affiliate Janajati Dharma Sanskriti Suraksha Manch (JDSSM) in Guwahati.

8. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel likely to visit poll-bound state Karnataka to meet with Gujaratis living in Karnataka & do a campaign among them to garner support for BJP.

9. Karnataka Scraps 4% Muslim Quota, Now Shared Between 2 Communities: The 4 per cent OBC Muslim quota has been divided between the Vokkaligas and Lingayats. Muslims eligible for quota have been categorised under economically weaker sections now.

10. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said that Project Cheetah is in line with PM Modi’s commitment to environmental protection and wildlife conservation.

He said, this project will lead to enhanced livelihood opportunities for the local communities through eco-development and ecotourism activities.

11. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to visit Kabisuryanagar Ganjam district, to address a public meeting at ground near Tehsil office of Kabisuryanagar, Patnaik to lay foundation stone of myriad development projects & hand over cheques to three Mission Shakti SHGs, CM to also distribute GKP Patta to beneficiaries

12. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) National President & Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao to attend a public meeting in Kandar Loha in Maharashtra.

13. Congress will organise a day-long ‘Satyagraha’ to protest Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha on March 26. All state Congress committees were asked to organise the ‘Satyagraha’ in front of Gandhi statues in state and district headquarters from 10am to 5pm.

14. The central government has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar Card with Ration Card till June 30, 2023.

15. Delhi government on Saturday ordered all government hospitals to hold a mock drill on March 26 (Sunday) to check preparedness in view of increasing COVID-19 and influenza-type cases.

CRIME REPORT

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation questioned Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the railways land-for-jobs linked case.

2. A joint operation between Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were arrested from Bandipora and live hand grenades were recovered from their possession. A case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

3. Three labourers were killed after being trapped under the debris following a mudslide incident at a construction site in Sullia of Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district. The mudslide occurred during the construction of a wall of a house.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a meeting to review the performance and preparedness of the Public Sector Banks (PSBs).

The review was based on various financial health parameters, and the resilience of PSBs in light of the current global financial scenario emanating from the failure of some international banks in the USA and Europe.

1. A three-day international film festival organised in collaboration with Maharashtra government to begin in Latur city of Maharashtra from 26 March.

The festival has been organised by Vilasrao Deshmukh Foundation in collaboration with Pune Film Foundation, Abhijat Film Society and the state government with an aim to introduce world cinema to the local audience.

2. Actress Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu-starrer ‘The Crew’ has commenced filming. Rhea Kapoor, who is producing the film along with Ektaa Kapoor, shared the news on the occasion of her mother Sunita Kapoor’s birthday.

3. Home Minister Amit Shah appreciates All India Radio, Chhattisgarh for starting News Bulletin in 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐢 language; Says this not only strengthens local language but also serves news to people of Bastar in their own language.

DEFENCE

1. The Indian Army has launched a probe after three missiles misfired during an exercise at the Pokhran field firing range in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on Friday 24 March. There was no loss of life/property.

The three missiles reportedly exploded in the sky and fell outside the field firing range. The wreckage of one missile was found at a field near Ajasar village outside the field firing range, and the debris of the second missile was found in a deserted area near Satyaya village.

2. Passing Out Parade (POP) of the first batch of Agniveers is scheduled to take place at INS Chilka on March 28. The POP marks the successful completion of training of close to 2,600 Agniveers, including 273 female Agniveers. The Agniveers underwent 16 weeks of ab-initio training at INS Chilka.

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the fight against Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region is now in the final stage of victory. He said CRPF has played an important role in reducing the influence of Maoists.
