Playing Dumb

Playing Dumb

“Forget the past. The vanished lives of all men are dark with many shames. Human conduct is ever unreliable until man is anchored in the Divine. Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.”
-Paramahansa Yogananda

For, how long, are we going to
float on ditches, presuming
it is Ganga and eventually
merge with the ocean?

Alas! we are lost,
and more than that
we are too proud to
admit our defeat.

We deal in flattery, lies
food, pleasures,
hatred, obsession,
envy, and greed,

and still somehow manage to
look ourselves in the eyes and
walk with stooped spines.

It would be a lost soul’s wish:
to be left alone, to do nothing
about themselves or others,
to sit in a dark corner of the room,
weeping and wailing for the past
to come alive,

Perhaps, the time has come,
to forget the past, all of ours
are filled with regrets and
shame, but what matters is
now, at least we gain some
wisdom, some perspective
and let ourselves be
divinely guided and evolved.
