Hate crime in US increased

1. Two-day international conference on “Shared Buddhist Heritage” to begin with focus on India’s civilizational connect with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) nations 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

2. The 2nd meeting of SCO Tourism Expert Level Working Group & Tourism Ministers Meeting to be held at Varanasi, first-ever SCO world cultural & tourism capital for 2022-23, from 14th to 18th March, 2023 in Kashi (Varanasi), U.P.

3. Former French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe will visit India from the 14th of March to the 17th of March to boost bilateral economic ties, particularly cooperation on ports, and decentralised cooperation between local governments.

4. India and Australia are planning new military drills to strengthen security cooperation.

5. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has completed the delivery of an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK-III and other deliverables to Mauritius as part of a ₹141 crore defence deal.

The contract between the governments of India and Mauritius was signed in January last year and the deliveries were to be made within 18 months.

US regulators on Friday shut down Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and took control of its customer deposits in the largest failure of an American bank since 2008.

3. Hate crime in US increased by 12% in 2021, 64.5% targeted over race: FBI. The updated hate crime dataset reports involve 10,840 incidents and 12,411 related offences.

4. Biden announces nuclear-powered submarines for Australia. PM Albanese said the agreement “represents the biggest single investment in Australia’s defence capability in all of our history”

5. President Lula Expresses Support To Indigenous In Brazil’s Amazon, Pledges Lands
On his first trip to Indigenous land in the Amazon rainforest since taking office, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed support for creating new territories for those communities, but stopped short of announcing any demarcations.
