1. India has termed the so-called local elections in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir a complete farce, saying such hollow cannot hide reality. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal pointed out that the real happening is that of public protests and wanton killings by Pakistani forces. He said that since June this year, at least 90 civilians have lost their lives in the continuing crackdown.
2. India has brought back 274 fugitive criminals from 36 countries between 2019 and 2026. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that to strengthen action against fugitives, the government enacted the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act in 2018. It added that India has developed an integrated, intelligence-led and technology-driven model to combat fugitive criminals.
3. India and Uzbekistan have set a target to double bilateral trade to about $3 billion within three years. The target was discussed at the India-Uzbekistan Business Forum in New Delhi on 3 August 2026, along with proposals to explore a Free Trade Agreement and expand cooperation in multiple sectors.
4. The two-day 2nd BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting commenced in Hyderabad. The meeting, includes the 2nd Meeting of the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery.

1. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry says diplomatic efforts are intensifying to find a solution to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, with regional mediators working closely to facilitate negotiations and exchange proposals between the two sides. It said Qatar is actively supporting Oman’s mediation efforts and remains optimistic that an agreement could be reached within the coming hours or days.
2. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed that they struck the Najran Airport in Saudi Arabia amid ongoing war between the United States and Iran in the West Asian region. In a statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said.
3. A fresh attack on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz and the diversion of Saudi-operated tankers away from the Red Sea have underscored mounting risks to global energy supplies. A cargo vessel was reported being struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
4. The legal team representing Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das has voiced deep concern over the deliberate pacing of his release process. Chinmoy Krishna Das, a leading spokesperson for Bangladesh’s Sanatani Hindu community, was arrested at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on November 25, 2024, on sedition charges. His arrest triggered widespread agitation across the country, culminating in violent clashes between security personnel and his supporters outside the Chattogram Court Building on 27th November, 2024.
5. At least eight people were killed after Ukraine launched a large-scale overnight drone attack targeting military, energy, and civilian infrastructure across several regions of Russia.
6. In Greece, two firefighting helicopters collided in the area of Psatha in the Attica region, while helping to control a huge wildfire that has destroyed more than 100 homes northwest of Athens. Two people on one helicopter – a Greek and a Danish national died, while the crew on the other, one person from Greece, one from Britain, survived.
