1. The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme from 2026-27 to 2030-31. Addressing media, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishanw.
2. The Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) for the development of floating solar photovoltaic projects with Energy Storage Systems. In Union Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the scheme has been approved with a total outlay of 5,070 crore rupees.
3. Indian Railways has successfully transported a live donor heart by train for the first time in India. The life-saving organ was transported from Surat to Ahmedabad aboard Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, ensuring its safe and timely arrival for transplantation at Ahmedabad’s U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre.
4. In Manipur, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has said it is implementing the National Food Security Act, to ensure transparent, efficient and accountable distribution of foodgrains across the State.
5. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta yesterday distributed bicycles to 3,000 girl students of government schools under the Vidya Vahini Yojana.
6. Himachal Pradesh has received administrative approval of 239.45 crore rupees from the Union Ministry of Road Transport under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, or CRIF, for 2026-27. The funding will be used to upgrade two key road projects in the state.
7. In Tamil Nadu, the state government has formed an Expert Advisory Committee to monitor and assess the potential impact of a strong El Niño weather phenomenon this year and to suggest steps to meet the challenge and mitigation measures. The Government has issued an order to this effect by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to assess the potential impact based on a scientific assessment and take precautionary steps to avert the danger.
8. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever air shipment of Neelam and Totapuri mangoes from Karnataka to the Maldives on 30 July 2026. The consignment weighed one metric tonne and was flagged off by Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman of APEDA.
9. Indian Railways has rolled out a significant passenger-friendly service of online personal luggage booking for its passengers who have reserved tickets.
10. The Mission Shakti App is a digital platform for women and child safety in India. It provides access to seven helpline services, including Women Helpline 181, Emergency Response Support System 112, National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, Child Helpline 1098, and Tele-MANAS 14416.
11. In Jammu and Kashmir the administration has ordered a complete suspension of traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) yesterday to facilitate slope stabilisation and restoration works on the vulnerable Udhampur-Chenani stretch near Ladha, Samroli.
12. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said that the state government’s Future City would be far superior to Gujarat’s GIFT City. He said the state’s ambition was to attract all Fortune 500 companies to the mega project. He said while GIFT City has been developed over about 700 acres, Future City would spread across nearly 30,000 acres and was being planned as a global destination for investment, innovation and employment.
13. On July 31, India commemorates Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day each year to pay tribute to one of the greatest freedom fighters of the country. Udham Singh is remembered for taking revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 by killing Michael O’Dwyer, the then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in London in the year 1940.
14. Heavy rains have once again lashed several parts of Gujarat, severely disrupting normal life and road traffic today. The India Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across widespread parts of Gujarat.

1. A Delhi court sentenced former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and four others to life imprisonment for the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma during the 2020 Delhi riots.
2. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have registered an FIR against Meta India Officials along with several social media account handlers. This action was taken following the viral spread of objectionable content against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook and Instagram. The police filed the case based on a complaint lodged by the BJP social media wing.
3. In Tamil Nadu, the Kanyakumari Police has expanded the AI traffic violation detection system in ten locations in the District. Named as ” Kaaval AI” this initiative is to ensure zero accidents in Kanyakumari. The system includes the installation of AI cameras at four locations to the roundabout to monitor traffic violations with high accuracy.
4. Amid reports that Tamil NaduChief Minister C. Joseph Vijay would visit Bengaluru on August 3, 2026, to meet his Karnataka counterpart D.K. Shivakumar and discuss the issues surrounding the release of Cauvery water and the proposed Mekedatu project, Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar on Friday (July 31, 2026) said no official decision had been taken so far on CM Vijay’s visit.
5. The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice on Karnataka IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri’s petition challenging the Karnataka High Court’s order directing the State to grant sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act to investigate the officer in alleged ‘eco-friendly cloth bags procurement’ scam.

1. An avalanche has struck an expedition on Broad Peak located in Karakoram range near K2 at an altitude of around 7 thousand metres, sweeping away a 10-member climbing team. Rescuers have recovered four bodies and continued search operations despite adverse weather. Nepal’s veteran mountaineer Nirmal Purja remained among six missing climbers.
2. At least nine people lost their lives after the four-storey Kohinoor Building collapsed late last night in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra. Rescue and relief operations are being conducted on a war footing by the fire brigade, police and civic authorities.
3. In Jammu and Kashmir, one non-local labourer was killed and another injured in a terrorist attack in the Kilam, Devsar area of Kulgam district
4. The flood situation in Odisha has further deteriorated as the Mahanadi and its tributaries continue to swell following incessant rainfall in the upper catchment areas. Fifteen districts have been affected, with vast stretches of villages, roads and agricultural land remaining inundated.

2. General Dhiraj Seth, the Chief of the Army Staff, launched the indigenously developed Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel in New Delhi on 31 July 2026. The fuel has been developed jointly by the Indian Army and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for use in extreme climatic conditions.
3. The Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam contributed Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on 29 July 2026. The cheque was presented to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for relief and rehabilitation work for families affected by floods in Upper Assam.
4. Former Indian Army Chief General Vishwa Nath Sharma passed away in the National Capital on 31 July 2026. He served as the 14th Chief of the Army Staff from 1 May 1988 to 30 June 1990 and was commissioned into the 16th Light Cavalry in June 1950.
General V.N. Sharma became the first post-Independence commissioned officer to rise to the post of Army Chief.

Superstar Rajinikanth has extended a helping hand to veteran actor and filmmaker Mohan Sharma after news of his financial woes went viral on the internet. The octogenarian actor, who has been in the South Indian film industry for several decades, is presently staying in an old-age home in Gummidipoondi, Chennai. But his plight was brought into the spotlight recently after videos of his difficulties went viral on social media. Soon after news of his condition broke, Rajinikanth reportedly provided a donation of Rs. 1 lakh, offering much-needed respite to the veteran actor during a difficult phase of his life.
