1. The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has constituted an internal inquiry committee to investigate allegations of irregularities in recruitment of Veterinary Officers. The move comes a day after the Vidhana Soudha Police registered an FIR against KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar, other officials and 29 selected candidates over alleged corruption and malpractice.
2. The West Bengal government has launched a major crackdown on an illegal extortion racket operating along National Highway-12 in North Bengal. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said five people have been arrested and three police personnel have been suspended in connection with the case.
