1. Members of the Kashmiri diaspora staged an anti-Pakistan protest outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, United Kingdom, alleging human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The protest was organised on the call of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
2. The Serum Institute of India (SII) has reached a watershed agreement with the Gates Medical Research Institute (Gates MRI) on creating the capacity to manufacture the M72/AS01E tuberculosis (TB) vaccine candidate. This deal will give SII the opportunity to produce the vaccine in large quantities for countries with high tuberculosis prevalence.
3. Dr. Srinivasa Kumar Tummala has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) by the Government of India. This appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and is an important move in boosting India’s abilities in the areas of oceanography, climate science, meteorology, disaster management, and deep-sea studies.

1. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched a series of retaliatory strikes targeting US military facilities in Syria, Kuwait and Oman yesterday.
2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Lipfendra, also called enlicitide, on 16 July 2026 for lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in adults. It is the first FDA-approved oral proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9, or PCSK9, inhibitor and is given as a once-daily 20-mg tablet.
3. The European Union has expressed serious concern over the human rights situation in Pakistan. It has warned that Pakistan’s continued access to trade benefits under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus, or GSP+, will depend on its compliance with international commitments under the revised GSP framework from 2027.
4. US President Donald Trump has accused China of carrying out a wide-ranging campaign to interfere in American elections.
5. In United States, Trump administration has imposed new visa restrictions to bar far-left terrorists from entering the country.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that foreigners who finance, incite, or aid and abet far-left terrorists are enemies of America’s civilisation, and they are not welcome in the United States.
