1. India is hosting the 13th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Joint Committee meeting in New Delhi to advance the review of the ASEAN-India trade pact. The Joint Committee meeting and its related meetings are being held in a hybrid format till 10th of this month.

2. Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that Artificial Intelligence intervention holds promise of multifold increase in country’s agricultural economy.

3. The BRICS Women’s Ministerial Meeting, organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, was held in Kochi, Keralam. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, Minister of State Savitri Thakur and other dignitaries participated in the sessions.

4. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized that each and every action of the Commission is based on the Constitution of India, electoral laws and written instructions issued from time to time in a transparent manner. Addressing the participants in third One-Day Conference for Media and Communication Officers in New Delhi.

5. Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi yesterday met Ministers and representatives from various states in New Delhi to discuss food security concerns.

6. PM Modi to Inaugurate Redeveloped Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station. He is scheduled to inaugurate the station redevelopment project on 17 July 2026.

7. CSIR-NAL The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has officially frozen the design of the SARAS MK-II, a 19-seater indigenous passenger aircraft, and is now moving into the prototype manufacturing phase. This marks a decisive step in India’s civil aviation program, aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and reducing dependence on imported aircraft.

8. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that several parts of the country have received good rainfall in recent days, reducing the number of rainfall-deficient districts from 262 to 178.

9. The country’s first six-lane underpass beneath an active runway is coming up at the new terminal of Varanasi airport. In a social media post, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that the foundation work and raft work of the underpass is currently underway.

10. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will visit Bhubaneswar, Odisha, today. During the visit, the Vice President will grace the National Launch Programme for the issuance of Letters of Authorisation for Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the High Seas at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar.

11. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notified Navi Mumbai Airport in Maharashtra as an authorised port for the import of drugs on 8 July 2026. The notification amended Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945, and increased the total number of notified ports of entry for drug imports in India to 42.

12. Indian government approved the nationwide rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme on 7 July 2026. The approval was taken at the 4th National Steering Committee meeting chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

13. Union government of India has expanded the investment options under the National Pension System (NPS) by extending the two additional life cycle funds to employees of the Central Autonomous Bodies (CABs) covered under this pension scheme. It was announced by the Ministry of Finance on 7th of July, 2026, it allows the eligible employees to choose between higher-growth and balanced investment strategies based on their risk appetite and retirement goals.

14. Four States Sign Narmada Project Payment Pact to Resolve Long-Standing Cost-Sharing Dispute.

The signing of the payment agreement for the Narmada project occurred in New Delhi on July 7, 2026, amongst the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The agreement addresses a long awaited issue of sharing the costs of the Sardar Sarovar and Indira Sagar projects, in accordance with the Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal (NWDT) Award that had been instrumental in the development of both projects. The agreement takes into consideration all the dues, payments and liabilities related to rehabilitation expenses, compensation for lands submerged and associated construction cost.

15. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange colour warning for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over Central and Eastern parts of the country.

LEGAL REPORT

1. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has frozen 440 crore rupees deposited in the bank accounts of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC). The case is related to dishonest financial dealings and routing of suspected funds. ED has conducted search operations at five premises in Kolkata yesterday under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

2. The Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea challenging the CBSE’s 27th March assessment scheme for regular students who were affected by the cancellation of Class XII board examination in Gulf countries due to the Iran-US war.

3. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) has reached over 23 crore individuals, including more than 7.81 crore youth, 5.24 crore women, and 17 lakh educational institutions.

4. Tripura made the full version of the National Song Vande Mataram and the National Anthem Jana Gana Mana compulsory in all schools across the state on 7 July 2026. The order applies to government schools, government-aided schools, private schools, and recognised madrassas in Tripura.

5. The Western Railway has debunked a video circulating on social media claiming that an Assistant Loco Pilot stopped the train to purchase food. In a social media post, the Railways has clarified that the train had already been halted at Rau Home signal due to scheduled engineering work in the Rau yard and not for buying food.

It said that during the authorized operational halt, the Assistant Loco Pilot was seen purchasing food. The Railways stated that this personal act has been deliberately misrepresented to suggest that the train was stopped for refreshments, which is completely incorrect. It clarified that the video has been falsely linked to a passenger DEMU train, whereas the incident involved a goods train. The Railways said such selective editing and misrepresentation spread misinformation and undermine public trust.

1. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) yesterday conducted a successful flight-test of Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha. Defence Ministry said that the rocket was tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kilometres.

2. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence was scheduled to meet yesterday at the Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi.
The committee reviews matters related to India’s defence policies, armed forces, budget, and national security.

3. The Indian Air Force has been ranked sixth globally in the WDMMA 2026 Global Air Powers Rankings with a True-Value-Rating (TvR) of 69.4, while the Pakistan Air Force sits at 18th place with a TvR of 46.3 and 879 aircraft units.

4. Indonesia’s Rafale acquisition, combined with its recent missile deals with India, opens a major export window for indigenous Indian weapons such as Astra, Rudram, and BrahMos‑NG.With Jakarta set to operate 42 Rafales, the integration of Indian systems onto the French fighter could create a new customer base and strengthen India’s defence export ambitions.

5. Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir has declared that the country will take “all necessary measures” to safeguard its share of water under the Indus Waters Treaty. His remarks followed a meeting of the Corps Commanders, where the military leadership reiterated Islamabad’s long‑standing position that any attempt to stop or divert Pakistan’s allocated share.

6. India and Rwanda held the second Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in New Delhi on 6-7 July 2026. The two countries agreed to expand cooperation in military training, military exercises, medical cooperation, and defence industries.

7. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted a critical Integrated Main parachute Airdrop Test (IMAT) for the Gaganyaan Missions at the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) drop zone in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh.

1. Global crude oil prices rose more than two per cent yesterday as renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran threatened to shatter the fragile ceasefire that had brought some relief to global energy markets.

2. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will complete the credit of 8.25 percent interest for the financial year 2025-26 into nearly 34 crore EPF accounts by 15th of July. Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that over 1.44 lakh crore rupees will be credited to subscribers through its new Centralised IT Enabled Services (CITES) system.
