Hulencourt, Belgium, July 2: India’s Diksha Dagar continued her impressive run on the Ladies European Tour, carding a bogey-free four-under 68 to seize the early clubhouse lead in the opening round of the Hulencourt Women’s Open in Belgium on Thursday.

The Hero-supported golfer, already enjoying one of her most consistent seasons with four top-10 finishes, produced a composed display at Hulencourt Golf Club as she chased a third Ladies European Tour title. With nearly half the field still on the course, Diksha shared the lead with South Africa’s Nadia van der Westhuizen, who was four under through 15 holes, and England’s Bronte Law, who had reached the same score with six holes remaining.

Among the completed rounds, England’s Meghan MacLaren, Slovenia’s Pia Babnik and Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley were tied for fourth after returning two-under 70s. Spain’s Carolina Chacarra was also three under with six holes left to play.

Diksha, who started her round from the 10th tee, settled into a smooth rhythm immediately with birdies on the 10th and 14th holes to turn in two under. She added further gains on the first and sixth holes before parring every other hole to complete an error-free round that placed her in prime position heading into the second day.

The Indian challenge received another boost from Aditi Ashok, who was one under through 12 holes and provisionally tied for 10th when play was still in progress. Avani Prashanth signed for an even-par 72 to sit tied 21st, while Pranavi Urs opened with a one-over 73 to be tied 36th.

The event has attracted a strong field as players prepare for next week’s fourth women’s Major of the season, the Amundi Evian Championship in France.

Defending champion Darcey Harry returned to Belgium looking to retain the title she won by three strokes last year. The victory was the Welsh player’s maiden Ladies European Tour triumph.

Also in the field is former Major champion Georgia Hall, who is continuing her comeback after becoming a mother earlier this year. Hall, a two-time Ladies European Tour Order of Merit winner, is joined by fellow season champions Trichat Cheenglab and Shannon Tan.

Aditi, a five-time Ladies European Tour winner, is making her tournament debut this week after returning from the LPGA Tour, where she has made six cuts in nine starts this season. The Belgian event serves as part of her build-up to the Evian Championship, where several of the leading LET players will be in action next week.

With one excellent round already in the books, Diksha has once again underlined her consistency and will look to convert another fast start into a strong weekend challenge as she bids for her first victory of the 2026 season.
