As part of the large-scale voter verification drive, more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits to verify details of 36.73 crore electors.
6. Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) commenced Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) production at its Udyogamandal plant on 15 May 2026. The permission for DAP manufacturing at the Kochi facility was granted on 24 April 2026 under the Nutrient Based Subsidy Scheme.

10. India released its first satellite-tagged Ganges soft-shell turtle in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam on 15 May 2026. The release took place on Endangered Species Day, which is observed on 15 May each year. The species is Nilssonia gangetica, a freshwater turtle found in river systems of the Indian subcontinent.

13. Lieutenant Governor of the Ladakh Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated the high altitude irrigation canal in the remote Changthang region. This canal was built at an elevation of more than 14,000 feet. The newly completed Mahey Tokpo-Raldho irrigation canal is expected to improve the water availability for agriculture in India’s one of the harsh place.
14. The sacred Piprahwa relics of Lord Buddha were accorded an emotional farewell at Leh Airport yesterday after the conclusion of a 14-day-long grand exposition in Ladakh. Over one lakh devotees paid obeisance to the holy relics, making it one of the largest spiritual gatherings organised in the Union Territory.

1. PM Modi has said that Government remains committed to ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Ease of Living’ for the countrymen. In a social media post, Prime Minister rejected a report of a media house on cess or tax or surcharge on foreign travel. He said, the report is totally false and there is not an iota of truth in it.
2. The Supreme Court announced a series of fuel conservation measures, including virtual hearings on miscellaneous days, car-pooling by judges and Work From Home (WFH) arrangements for registry staff. The move is in line with the Centre’s broader push to cut fuel consumption amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.
3. Three IPS officers have been suspended by the Government of West Bengal in connection with the RG Kar Medical College case. Vineet Goyal, the former Commissioner of Kolkata Police; Indira Mukherjee, the former Deputy Commissioner (Central); and Avishek Gupta, the former Deputy Commissioner (North), were suspended yesterday due to alleged dereliction of duty, offering money to the victim’s parents, and conducting media briefings without government authorization.
4. The Madhya Pradesh High Court declared the Bhojshala complex in Dhar district a Hindu temple. The court said that a temple of Goddess Saraswati existed here and the site was a centre of Sanskrit learning. The Muslim side calls it Kamal Maula Mosque. The court cancelled the earlier order that allowed Muslims to offer namaz at the site.

The Supreme Court of India on 14 May 2026 dismissed a batch of pleas filed by the Uttar Pradesh government on Value Added Tax on natural gas moved from Andhra Pradesh through common carrier pipelines. The bench of Justices J. K. Maheshwari and Atul S. Chandurkar held that the transactions were interstate sales governed by the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956.
8. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the kingpin in connection with alleged irregularities in paper leak related to NEET-UG 2026 examination. The agency said that P.V. Kulkarni has been arrested at Pune after thorough interrogation. P.V. Kulkarni is a Chemistry Lecturer involved in the process of examination on behalf of National Testing Agency. He had access to the question papers. The agency has conducted searches at several locations in the last 24 hours, across the country and seized several incriminating documents,

1. India achieved the major milestone in defense innovation as AI powered combat aircraft ‘Kaal Bhairava’ wll now be manufactured in Portugal, Europe. It will be developed by Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace and it marks the India’s first overseas production of an autonomous combat aircraft. This manufacturing hub in the Portugal is part of the broader initiative called Operation 777.
2. Indian Naval Ship INS Sunayna, deployed as IOS Sagar with a multinational crew from 16 countries, arrived at Colombo yesterday morning as part of India’s regional maritime cooperation initiative. The vessel is on the second edition of its Indian Ocean deployment aimed at strengthening ties among partner nations.
3. Bharat Forge earmarks ₹1,500 crore on new defence manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh : The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), plans to invest ₹1,500 crore over the next two to four years to develop an integrated advanced energetics manufacturing campus near Madakasira in Sri Sathya Sai district. Spread across more than 1,000 acres.
