1. Archibald Prize 2026 was awarded on 8 May 2026 to Melbourne-based artist Richard Lewer for a portrait of Pitjantjatjara Elder Iluwanti Ken. The prize carried a cash award of $100,000 and the winning work was selected from 1,034 entries.
2. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Suriname during a three-nation Caribbean tour from 2 May to 10 May 2026. In Paramaribo, he handed over an India-assisted Agro Passion Fruit processing facility and co-chaired the 9th India-Suriname Joint Commission Meeting with Suriname’s Foreign Minister Melvin Bouva.
3. India has started advancing a renewed agenda for MSME cooperation under its BRICS Chairship for 2026. As part of this initiative, the Ministry of MSME successfully organised the first SME Working Group Meeting on April 24, 2026, focusing on improving access to finance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

1. United States Department of Labor issued a proposed rule VCon 27 March 2026 to raise minimum salary thresholds for H-1B visa workers. The proposal covers H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, and PERM labour certification programmes in the United States.
