1. A day-long special session of the Legislative Assembly will be held today. According to the Assembly Secretariat, a discussion regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill is likely to take place during the session. The session will commence at 11 AM.

1. In a boost for sea diplomacy, an Indian Navy fast attack craft, INS Kalpeni, has arrived at Gan in the Addu Atoll, marking a significant step in the ongoing maritime engagement between India and the Maldives. In another trip, Navy’s INS Sudarshini arrived at Las Palmas in Canary Islands on April 23, as part of her ongoing transoceanic deployment.

2. Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who was in the US recently as part of the continuation of high-level military-to-military exchanges between India and America, was inducted into the International Hall of Fame of the US Army War College in Pennsylvania.

General Dwivedi, a distinguished fellow of the US Army War College, is the third Indian Army chief to receive such an honour after General V. K. Singh and General Bikram Singh.

3. A Joint Commanders’ Conference is expected to be held in Jaipur on May 7 and 8, where senior military leadership from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force will deliberate on important military planning and issues. The discussion will focus on integration, procurements and key operational challenges as the armed forces continue efforts to strengthen coordination across the three services.

4. Indian Army has raised its 16th ‘Bhairav’ Battalion at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi, Karnataka. The new unit strengthens India’s infantry capabilities and reflects the Army’s focus on agile, rapid-response combat formations suited for modern warfare and sensitive border operations.

5. General Electric Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have reached a landmark technical agreement to co-produce F414 jet engines in India, with nearly 80 per cent of the manufacturing technology and intellectual property rights transferring to HAL.
