1. The Vice Shri President, C.P. Radhakrishnan, highlighted the transformative power of education and its vital role in the journey toward a “Viksit Bharat”. Addressing the 3rd Convocation Ceremony at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Bihar, he urged students to use their knowledge to address the challenges facing the country.

2. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has initiated Mission MITRA in Leh, Ladakh, to analyse astronaut behaviour under extreme environmental conditions. Conducted at an altitude of nearly 3,500 metres from April 2 to April 9, 2026, the mission replicates space-like challenges such as low oxygen levels, extreme cold and isolation.

3. Executive Director of the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), Praveen Kumar Mittal, welcomed the government’s decision to exempt customs duty on a wide range of petrochemical products.

4. The Election Commission has said that voters can access details about their Assembly constituency candidates educational qualifications and criminal antecedents by using the ECINET Platform. The voters can also download the entire affidavit submitted by the candidates. ECINET is the world’s largest electoral service platform, bringing all electoral services together in one seamless experience by integrating more than 40 apps and portals of the Election Commission.

5. Campaigning has intensified for assembly elections in 4 States and one Union Territory. West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and the Union territory of Puducherry are preparing for upcoming elections, with the Election Commission having already announced the schedule in recent weeks.

6. Indian Railways has approved the Optical Fibre Cable Backbone Project of around ₹398 Crore in the Ahmedabad and Ratlam Divisions.

7. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that Indian Railways is transforming connectivity across the nation with nearly 25,000 trains running every day throughout the year.

8. The Ministry of Education has granted the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) the status of an Institution deemed to be a university under a distinct category, following recommendations by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The move is aimed at strengthening research capacity and advancing academic innovation in the field of school education in India.

9. The Telangana Government, for the first time in the country, is including maps of the lands in the passbooks once the transaction is completed. Maps are being incorporated in the passbook in line with the provisions contained in the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Act 2025. Section 5 of the Act makes it mandatory to submit survey/sub division map as prescribed along with the applications.

10. In Tamilnadu, election fever is running high with door to door campaigning and roadshows are being held for garnering votes. In a surprise announcement, the leader of VCK, a longtime ally of the DMK, has said that he will not be contesting in this Assembly elections. Earlier, he said that he will be contesting in Kattumannarkoil. The party was allocated eight seats in the Secular Democratic Alliance.

11. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has said that the government is making all efforts to ensure availability of Petrol, Diesel and LPG across the country. It has advised citizens to avoid panic purchase of Petrol and Diesel and unnecessary booking of LPG.

12. The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced a sweeping overhaul of its curriculum framework, which includes compulsory language learning from the sixth standard and AI language. Set to take effect from the 2026-27 academic year more than 32,900 affiliated schools, the reforms are in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023.

1. The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, passed on the 2nd of this month, amends 79 Central Acts administered by 23 Ministries, covering 784 provisions across multiple sectors. The bill removes criminal penalties for minor procedural lapses and replaces them with civil penalties or administrative mechanisms.

2. The road transport ministry notified that no cash transactions for toll payments will be allowed from April 10, aiming to reduce queuing of vehicles at toll gates.

3. The Election Commission has suspended four police officers in Kolkata following allegations of security lapses during a roadshow and submission of nomination of BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari in Bhabanipur, attended by Senior BJP leader Amit Shah.

4. The controversy surrounding the 2G spectrum case has resurfaced after an alleged audio clip of DMK MP A Raja went viral on social media. The audio, released by YouTuber Maridhas, purportedly shows Raja criticising the DMK’s first family over the 2G corruption case. However, Raja has strongly denied the authenticity of the clip and has issued a legal notice, calling it “manipulated.”

1. Astra Rafael Comsys Private Limited (ARC), a collaborative venture between Hyderabad’s Astra Microwave Products Limited and Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, has clinched a significant contract worth ₹250.58 Crores from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).This substantial agreement focuses on the provision of advanced Software Defined Radios (SDR), a cornerstone of modern military communication.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the critical role of the Indian Navy in safeguarding the nation’s maritime trade routes, particularly the movement of commercial ships and oil tankers.He highlighted that nearly 95 per cent of India’s trade, including vital energy supplies, is conducted via sea, making naval security indispensable to the country’s economic stability.

3. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan visited the strategically important areas under Chinar Corps in Srinagar on Saturday and reviewed the security landscape and operational posture along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Air Force is poised to resume flight operations for its HAL TEJAS fleet next week, ending a two-month grounding period that began in early February.This suspension was initially triggered when a jet overshot the runway during a routine training exercise, resulting in structural damage to the airframe.

5. The indigenous Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) project is approaching its concluding stages prior to joining the Indian armed forces. Designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this advanced weapon successfully demonstrated its top-attack capabilities.
