1. The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from 16th to 20th February this year. The summit will be the first global AI summit to be hosted in the Global South.

The three-day aviation event, WINGS INDIA 2026, began on January 29 and will conclude on January 31 at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.
6. Indian Railways has achieved a significant milestone in sustainable transport by operationalising the country’s first LNG-Diesel dual-fuel Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train. The initiative marks a decisive step towards reducing emissions and fuel costs in rail operations. The dual-fuel DEMU train has been operationalised at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad.
7. Indian Railways commissioned nearly four hundred seventy-two route kilometres of Kavach Version 4.0 across three sections of its network, marking another significant milestone in strengthening rail safety. The three newly commissioned sections include the 344 kilometres Vadodara to Virar section on Western Railway, 35 kilometres Tuglakabad Junction Cabin to Palwal section on Northern Railway, and 93.3 kilometres Manpur to Sarmatanr section on East Central Railway.
8. India has launched its first AI-enabled university pilot at CCSU Meerut in partnership with Google Cloud. The initiative will introduce AI tutors, smart campus systems, and personalised learning, shaping a national model for AI adoption across higher education.
9. Assam has launched the Mukhya Mantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat Scheme to provide one-time financial assistance to over six lakh tea workers. The initiative recognises tea tribes’ contribution and strengthens welfare, dignity and inclusive development in tea garden areas.
10. On the occasion of National Leprosy Day, observed on 30 January, a comprehensive public awareness programme was organised at Dilli Haat to promote early detection and reduce stigma associated with leprosy.
11. The fifth edition of the Rüsoma Orange Festival commenced at Rüsoma village in Nagaland, marking another step in showcasing rural prosperity through horticulture-led development. The festival is being held around 10 kilometres from the state capital, Kohima.
12. The Union government has formally set the stage for the 8th Central Pay Commission, which will decide revised salaries, pensions and allowances for central government employees and pensioners.
