India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru

9. Tata Power’s 4GW solar cell and 4GW solar module facility in Tamil Nadu is likely to be operational by December-end, CEO and MD Praveer Sinha said.

CRIME REPORT

1. Clashes erupted between two factions of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday afternoon over the election of a madrasa management committee in the Ratua area of West Bengal’s Malda district. Gun firings and bombings were reported in the area following the tension. According to police, at least three people sustained serious injuries.

2. In a massive crackdown on anti-social elements, Kerala Police on Sunday arrested 2,507 people across the state. The arrests were made after raiding 3,501 places since February 4.

3. Residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s Dhangri threatened to go on a hunger strike if security forces don’t neutralise terrorists in 15 days. On January 1, during a terror attack on Dhangri, seven people were killed and 14 injured.

4. The Orissa High Court has directed the Centre to file an affidavit within two weeks with latest status of the probe into the espionage case of 2021 relating to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Chandipur.

1. Union Budget 2023 announced a “voluntary settlement scheme with standardised terms” to amicably end commercial/contractual disputes concerning government undertakings in which arbitral awards are under challenge in a court.

2. VIVAD SE VISHWAS SCHEME: It is a direct tax scheme introduced by the Government of India in 2020 for settling disputes between taxpayers and the income tax department.
It aims to minimize tax-related litigation.
Under this scheme, an individual taxpayer can claim full waiver on interest and penalty on the full and final settlement of the disputed tax amount.

3. Logistics company DP World recently said that it has won a major contract to develop, operate and maintain a mega-container terminal at Deendayal Port in Gujarat under the public-private partnership mode.

4. The deposit limit for the Post Office Monthly Scheme (POMIS) has been revised for a single account to Rs.4.5 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh and 15 lakh from Rs. 9 lakh for joint account holders.

2. Legendary singer Vani Jairam passed away in Chennai on Saturday, February 4, at 78. She was cremated on Sunday, February 5, with full state honours. She was found dead at her residence in Nungambakkam’s Haddows Road in Chennai.
