Airline responds to concerns over Sunday travel as cancellations continue

Passengers across several cities continued to face uncertainty as IndiGo struggled with widespread disruptions to its operations, which spilled over into the weekend. Many were concerned about whether Sunday would bring any respite after hundreds of travelers were stranded Saturday due to mass delays and cancellations.

IndiGo has issued a statement about the matters at hand and confirmed that some cancellations and changes in schedules might still continue, though the airline said it is working to restore normal operations “as quickly as possible.” While the carrier didn’t specify how many flights would be affected, it indicated that the system is still under strain, and passengers should expect “slight residual impact.”

The disruptions reportedly happened because of a mix of crew availability issues, sudden changes in aircraft rotations, and inclement weather-related challenges in a few metro cities. This had triggered a cascading effect by pushing several later flights off schedule. Maximum impact was felt at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad airports, where long queues were seen at the help desk and many passengers voiced their frustration online.

IndiGo has urged travelers booked for Sunday to closely monitor the flight status, preferably through the official IndiGo app or website, as there is a possibility of last-minute updates. The airline says it has increased customer support staff to help with rebooking, refunds, and adjustments for those whose flights may be impacted. It also stated that passengers will be put on the next available flights “with priority.”

IndiGo has asked passengers to reach the airport well in advance, particularly for those making changes in their travel plans. The airline stated that crew schedules were being re-aligned gradually and most flight operations would return to normal within the next 24 hours.

For the time being, though IndiGo has not announced a blanket continuation of cancellations on Sunday, travelers will need to be prepared for delays and scattered disruptions across the network. The airline said its teams are working round the clock to bring operations back on track and minimize inconvenience. With Sunday approaching, passengers are hoping that the worst is over, but IndiGo’s advisory makes it clear that though the situation is improving, it may take another day to fully normalize.
