Deported to India, Anmol Bishnoi Sent to 11 Days of NIA Interrogation

Anmol Bishnoi

The National Investigation Agency has taken gangster Anmol Bishnoi into 11-day custodial remand, in a major step forward in the agency’s crackdown on organised crime networks operating from abroad. His return to India-through a coordinated deportation effort-comes after months of surveillance, paperwork, and back-channel negotiations between Indian agencies and foreign authorities.

Brought Back Under Heavy Security

Bishnoi, the younger sibling of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested overseas earlier this month. His extradition process had been closely monitored by Indian intelligence agencies due to his alleged involvement in extortion threats, targeted attacks, and providing shelter to shooters involved in multiple high-profile crimes.

Once deported, he was immediately taken into custody at the airport itself by a joint team of NIA and local police officials. Heavy security was deployed as officers formed a ring around him to avoid any security breach. Sources say even the transit route was changed last minute to prevent leaks.

NIA Seeks To Trace Network and Funding

The NIA sought Bishnoi’s custody to quiz him on following:
• His connections with international crime syndicates
• Funding routes used for extortion and targeted killings
Arms suppliers and handlers
• His role in issuing threatening videos from abroad

• Relationships with fugitives operating from Canada, Dubai, and Pakistan

The investigators believe he played a pivotal role in coordinating gang activities via remote operations, operating social media handles, and allegedly influencing recruitment of young shooters.

According to one officer who is privy to the case, only in the coming 11 days will crucial missing links between domestic gang members and overseas facilitators be unraveled.

Part of Larger Crackdown

Anmol’s arrest fits into the NIA’s bigger campaign against gangster-terror nexuses. Over the past months, the agency has carried out several raids in various states, seized weapons, and frozen bank accounts believed to be linked to criminal networks.

With his return, investigators expect to map out the operational hierarchy of the Bishnoi network more clearly. Several cases registered in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan are also expected to be clubbed with the ongoing probe.

What Happens Next?

Bishnoi will stay in NIA custody until the next court hearing. Officials say they will confront him with digital evidence, phone records, and statements of arrested associates. More arrests are likely as the interrogation progresses. For now, the focus is on extracting intelligence that may help dismantle the wider network—something that has long operated from foreign soil but influenced crimes inside India.
