A shocking video from Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh has gone viral on social media, where a young man was forced to wash another man’s feet and drink that water as punishment for an alleged Instagram post. The horrific visuals are being widely shared on social media, and people are lashing out at the accused online.
The Incident
The incident reportedly took place in Khujner of Rajgarh area. The victim, a 22-year-old man, is said to have posted something on Instagram that hurt people belonging to another community. A group of men, as a revenge act, allegedly kidnapped him, insulted him, and recorded the entire episode — making him wash one of their feet and drink the water in public.
The video, which has since gone viral, captures the victim openly agitated as the group taunts him. The accused is heard issuing threats, telling him not to “repeat such posts again.”
Police Action
As soon as the video went viral on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the Rajgarh police acted. Superintendent of Police Monika Shukla verified that three individuals have been arrested, and a case has been filed under sections concerning kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and inciting enmity between groups.
“The act was inhuman and utterly unacceptable. We have tracked down all the accused and will see to it that strict punishment is meted out,” Shukla asserted.
Police have also cautioned against posting the viral video online, expressing fears of communal tension in the region.
Political Responses
The event has provoked political responses from government and opposition parties alike. Congress party leaders have accused the government of letting “social hatred go unchecked,” while BJP authorities have stated that the act “will not be tolerated at any cost.
Human rights organizations have also criticized the act as a “barbaric attempt to impose caste and community domination.”
