1. A paediatrician in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district has been arrested following the deaths of 11 children allegedly linked to contaminated Coldrif cough syrup, officials confirmed early Sunday. The tragedy has prompted precautionary bans in multiple states, including Kerala, as authorities investigate the highly toxic contamination.
2. Maharashtra’s Food and Drugs Administration has issued an urgent alert following reports of the deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan linked to Coldrif Syrup. The syrup, Batch No. SR-13, manufactured in May 2025 by Sresan Pharma in Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu, is alleged to be adulterated with Diethylene Glycol, a toxic substance. The product’s expiry date is April 2027.
3. Tamil Nadu police charged the driver of actor-politician Vijay’s bus with negligent driving, a day after Madras high court questioned why no FIR was filed over two alleged hit-and-run accidents involving the convoy of the TVK chief’s campaign during the September 27 Karur stampede that killed 41 people.

1. Six critical patients were killed in a fire at the trauma centre of the state-run Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur late Sunday night.
Trauma centre in-charge Dr Anurag Dhakad said that 11 patients were being treated in the Neuro ICU when the fire erupted in the storage area. A suspected short circuit is believed to have caused the blaze.
2. At least 23 people have died as heavy rainfall triggered massive landslides in West Bengal’s Darjeeling on Sunday, flattening homes, blocking roads at multiple places.

1. In Bhutan, a sudden flood in the River area early yesterday morning left several families and workers stranded in Bhutan’s temporary housing and workforce camp. Despite challenging weather conditions, a coordinated rescue effort between Bhutanese authorities and the Indian Army ensured all affected individuals were brought to safety.
2. The Indian Navy’s indigenous stealth frigate, INS Sahyadri, visited Kemaman Port in Malaysia as part of the Eastern Fleet’s operational deployment to the South China Sea and Indo-Pacific region. In a statement, the Defence Ministry informed that the ship made the port call on the 2nd of this month, celebrating the enduring cultural ties and shared maritime traditions between the two nations.
3. Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh has indicated a potential strategic pivot in India’s indigenous fighter aircraft roadmap, suggesting that future orders for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A could transition toward the more advanced TEJAS MK-2 variant. The statement, made ahead of the 93rd Air Force Day.

At a pre–Air Force Day press conference, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh confirmed that Pakistan lost between 12 and 13 military aircraft, including F-16 and JF-17 fighter jets, during Operation Sindoor.The operation was launched from May 7 to May 10, following the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terrorist and military installations deep inside Pakistan.
5. The Indian Navy showcased its enhanced submarine rescue skills during Pacific Reach 2025 Exercise (XPR-25). Hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy from 15 to 25 September 2025, the exercise involved over 40 nations. India’s Submarine Rescue Unit (East) embarked on INS Nistar and executed multiple successful rescue operations.
6. India and Australia are set to conduct the fourth edition of their bilateral military exercise, AUSTRAHIND 2025, from October 13 to 26, 2025, at Irwin Barracks in Perth, Australia.
