9. 11-DAY REPUBLIC DAY FLOWER SHOW AT LALBAGH BOTANICAL GARDEN: Karnataka’s horticulture department has implemented a rule prohibiting the use of vehicles inside Bengaluru’s Lalbagh Botanical Garden. Visitors to the park have been urged to use bicycles to commute inside the park.

1. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of 30 lakh rupees on Air India over the incident of passenger misbehavior on its flight on 26 Nov 2022 from New York to New Delhi.

2. The Kerala High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to former Gujarat DGP, R B Sreekumar, former Kerala DGP, Siby Mathews and four other accused in the ISRO espionage case.

3. Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted a 40-day parole
2 months after last one ended on November 25 last year. He is serving a 20-year sentence for raping his disciples.

4. A Raipur court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s former Deputy Secretary Saumya Chaurasia in a money laundering case linked to coal levy scam.

5. Police in Odisha’s Puri have arrested a man who allegedly flew a drone over Jagannath Temple and uploaded the footage on YouTube, forging the logo of the state police. The accused, Animesh Chakraborty, was arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that nabbed him from West Bengal.

1. Punjab National Bank has become India’s first public sector bank to launch credit cards for its fixed deposit customers.

2. The Canara Bank on Friday said it plans to sell its entire stake in Russian joint venture Commercial Indo Bank LLC (CIBL) to partner State Bank of India (SBI) for about ₹114 crore. SBI and Canara Bank held 60% and 40% stakes, respectively, in CIBL.

3. The Centre has released endorsement guidelines for celebrities, influencers and virtual influencers on social media platforms. The guidelines aim to ensure that individuals do not mislead their audiences when endorsing products or services.

4. Indian Railways collect Rs 42,370 crore more revenue in current fiscal so far compared to last financial year.

5. Telecom major Reliance Jio posted a 28.29% rise in net profit to ₹4,638 crore in the quarter ended December 2022.

1. Indian Companies Compete For Army’s Submachine Gun Tender ASMI: The locally developed Asmi 9mm submachine gun is presumed to be one contender for an Indian Army requirement for submachine guns

The Asmi (ASMI) is an Indian prototype submachine gun. It was designed and developed in 2020 by the Defence Research and Development.

Asmi, which means “pride, self respect and hard work”, was first showcased in January 2021, was designed as a replacement for the 1A Carbine.

2. The Director General of Defence Estates will develop and maintain an online portal for the electronic application process and integrate the same with the Sanchar Portal of the Department of Telecom.For all locations outside the civil area, Cantonment Boards will seek NoC from station headquarters from security of view.

3. Fifth Scorpene-class Submarine INS VAGIR To be Commissioned On Jan 23. The submarine is a part of the Project-75 which involves the Scorpene or the Kalvari-class diesel-electric attack submarines by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited.

4. The preparations for the upcoming 74th Republic Day celebrations are in full swing as around 50 aircraft seem ready to showcase their aerial abilities during the celebrations at Kartavya Path. The aerial show will include nine Rafale aircraft and the Navy’s IL-38, 04 from Indian Army aviation.

5. Three-day annual Police conference : All India Conference of Director Generals, Inspector Generals of Police 2022 begins on Friday in New Delhi.

On the first day, the Conference deliberated upon topics such as security challenges along the Land Borders with Nepal and Myanmar, strategies to identify overstaying foreigners in India and targeting of Maoist strongholds.

6. In Odisha: CRPF and ITBP in collaboration with state govt organise various activities in Cuttack to mark 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on 23 Jan.

7. The Indian and the Egyptian Armies are to conduct the first-ever joint exercise Cyclone-I. It is to be held in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan for 14 days. The exercise is the first of its kind as it brings the special forces of the countries to a common platform.

8. The Indian Army had ordered six Apache Helicopters with the Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL). So far, six of these helicopters have been delivered and five more are being prepared. The order was placed under the GoI’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.
