1. The Parliament of India has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, marking a major reform in India’s maritime trade laws. The Rajya Sabha approved the Bil.
Parliament has passed the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2025 with the Rajya Sabha approving it. The Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill. The Bill seeks to regulate vessels engaged in trade within the country’s coastal waters.
2. Proceedings of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha continued to be marred by the opposition’s protest over the Special Intensive Revision exercise of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues on the fourth day of this week.
3. The Election Commission issued the notification for filing of nomination for the Vice-Presidential election. Nominations for the office of Vice President can be filed till 21st of this month and election will be held on 9th of September.
4. PM Modi has said that India will never compromise on the interests of its farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers. He was addressing the M.S. 6. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region has approved the construction of Mangoldoi- Mazikuchi road in Assam. Having a length of fifteen kilometres and costing approximately 45.31 crore rupees, the project will be implemented under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme.
7. The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has announced significant progress in the adoption and impact of the eSAKSHI portal, a groundbreaking digital platform that has transformed the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund management process.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is constructing a Third Launch Pad (TLP) at its Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to be operational by March 2029.This project was approved by the Union Cabinet in January 2025, with a budget of around ₹4,000 crore.
9. The Assam government has intensified its efforts to eliminate child marriage by 2026.
10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall in isolated pockets. Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will also witness heavy rainfall today.

The government has deactivated over 4 crore duplicate or inactive LPG connections. This move aims to prevent fuel diversion and ensure subsidies reach genuine consumers.

The National Security Guard (NSG) is set to procure the indigenous Ugram assault rifles chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO calibre in limited quantities.The Ugram rifle is a state-of-the-art, fully indigenous weapon developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune.

The Philippines is planning to purchase additional military equipment from India, particularly expanding its acquisition of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system, which it first procured in 2022.President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed confidence in the quality and performance of Indian defence technology.

The Astra MK-2 beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) is poised to enter user trials with the Indian Air Force’s Su-30MKI aircraft imminently, marking a significant milestone in India’s indigenous missile development program.Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Astra MK-2 is an advanced variant of the Astra missile family.

The Indian Army has awarded a ₹17 crore contract to Hyderabad-based Lokesh Machines, a company currently under US sanctions, for the supply of ‘Mod Kits’ for the 7.62mm Medium Machine Gun (MMG).Lokesh Machines, founded in 1983, is a well-established manufacturer of CNC machines and has expanded into small arms manufacturing.
