1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, India built a transparent, responsive and citizen-centric governance model in past 11 years; Inaugurates Kartavya Bhavan, as part of Common Central Secretariat buildings in New Delhi.

2. PM Modi will inaugurate the M.S. Swaminathan Centenary International Conference at ICAR PUSA in New Delhi.

The theme of the conference is “Evergreen Revolution, The Pathway to Biohappiness” which reflects Professor M.S Swaminathan’s lifelong dedication to ensuring food for all.

3. Recent developments have brought hope to the decade-old Mahanadi river water-sharing dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Both states have expressed willingness to resolve the issue through negotiations. The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal has granted additional time for talks and scheduled the next hearing for 6 September 2025.

4. Ongoing monsoon rains across most parts of Himachal Pradesh have severely disrupted normal life. In the past 24 hours, Kasauli in Solan district recorded the highest rainfall at 150 millimetres. IMD issues yellow alert across the state.

5. On 1 August 2025, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a 10-day high-altitude isolation experiment in Ladakh. Conducted at 14,000 feet, this mission simulates the extreme conditions astronauts might face on long-duration space missions to the Moon or Mars. The initiative is part of preparations for India’s Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme and future interplanetary exploration.

6. The Parliament has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. The Bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to replace the Indian Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925.

7. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina 2.0 scheme in Guwahati- a monthly financial assistance scheme to increase girls’ enrolment in higher education.

8. In Andhrapradesh, the weekly state cabinet meeting on Wednesday gave its approval for the Sthree Sakthi free RTC bus travel scheme for women from August 15 and approval of the new bar policy.

9. Andhra Pradesh government has started implementation of the ‘Urban Auto-Mutation of Properties’ plan in 17 municipal corporations. This follows the completion of ‘Rural Auto-Mutation’ in non-urban areas in the state.

10. Eminent historian Prof Rajat Kanta Ray, the former head of the Department of History at Kolkata’s Presidency University (earlier College), passed away in Kolkata on Wednesday at the age of 79.

11. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has issued a flood alert as water levels in the Himayatsagar and Osmansagar reservoirs are nearing full tank level (FTL). There is a high probability of opening the flood gates of the reservoirs, depending on further rainfall.

12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for the next six days. The weather agency predicted very heavy rainfall in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Kerala and the North-eastern region.

1. In a major operation conducted by the Customs Department, more than 6,000 grams of narcotic substances were seized from Pune Airport. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around 6 crore rupees in the international market.

2. Manipur State Commission for Person with Disabilities has instructed all banks in the State to provide all provisions to the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in their premises under the law. The Commission instructed all banks to provide necessary physical infrastructure and digital banking platforms for its PWDs customers.

3. In Chhattisgarh, nine Maoists surrendered to the police in Bijapur district.

4. The Directorate of Enforcement, ED, is conducting search operations at 11 locations in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Dehradun yesterday in a global cyber fraud case.

5. The National Investigation Agency conducted searches at 19 locations across Punjab in connection with the terror grenade attack on a temple in Amritsar in March this year.

6. The Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday declared the publication of 25 books, including those written by famous authors like Moulana Moudadi, Arundhati Roy, A G Noorani, Victoria Schofield and David Devadas, as forfeited for “promoting false narratives and glorifying terrorism”.

7. High drama unfolded in Mumbai’s bustling Dadar area as angry protesters on Wednesday morning forcibly removed the tarpaulin put up by the city civic body to cover a popular pigeon feeding spot in compliance with a Bombay high court order, leading to clashes with police.

8. The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Maharashtra Government to stop hand-pulled rickshaws operated in Matheran — a hill station thronged by lakhs of tourists in peak seasons and switch over to e-rickshaws within six months.

9. The Madras High Court has ordered disciplinary action against five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for having failed in their duty to ensure that no criminal complaint gets closed without filing negative final reports before the jurisdictional magistrates and without sending due intimation to the complainants as well as the suspects.

1. Centre and the Uttarakhand government are jointly running rescue operations in Uttarkashi.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today said around 190 people have been rescued from disaster-hit Dharali village of Uttarkashi district after a devastating cloudburst.

2. The incident of cloudburst in Uttarkashi has severely disrupted businesses and the daily lives of residents. 3 ITBP, 4 NDRF and 4 SDRF teams have been deployed to rescue those affected and provide food and other essential services.

3. In Punjab, two people have died and three others injured in a high-intensity blast in an oxygen-making unit in Mohali’s industrial area.

1. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India today kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.5%, maintaining a neutral stance. Consequently, the standing deposit facility (SDF) rate will be at 5.25 percent and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 5.75 per cent. This follows a 100 bps cut since February and comes ahead of the festive season.

2. The RBI retained its FY26 GDP growth forecast at 6.5% despite US tariffs on Indian imports. Inflation for FY26 is projected at 3.1%, lower than June’s 3.7% estimate, though CPI is expected to reach 4.9% in FY27.

3. In a significant development for India’s digital economy and investor sentiment, Jack Ma’s Antfin, the Chinese affiliate of Ant Group, has completely exited Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications. The move eliminates all Chinese ownership from the fintech major, marking a milestone for the company and potentially widening its investor base. Antfin sold its entire 5.84% stake—equivalent to 37.3 million shares—in large bulk deals worth around ₹3,803 crore.

1. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that 43 OTT platforms have been blocked for displaying obscene content. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Mr Vaishnaw said, the government has notified the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media, Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 to address the negative effects of harmful content on OTT platforms.

2. MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA’ movie has surpassed Rs 100 crore globally in just 10 days. Hombale Films, who presented the film said.

3. The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights holder of Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Kingdom has approached the Madras High Court to restrain Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator S. Seeman and his followers from interfering with the screening of the movie in cinema halls on the alleged ground that it portrays the Tamil Eelam issue in a derogatory manner.
