1. The death sentence of Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in Yemen, has been postponed for the time being. She was to be executed by shooting today, July 16. According to media reports, activist groups and influential religious leaders intervened in the matter, after which the death sentence of Nimisha Priya was postponed.
2. The Health Ministry has rejected the media reports which claimed that the Ministry has directed to issue warning labels on food products such as samosa, jalebi and laddoo.
3. President Smt Droupadi Murmu yesterday met the parents of the girl student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College of Balasore in Odisha who is undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar after attempting self-immolation bid alleging sexual harassment by a faculty member.

1. Actor Aasif Khan, known for his roles in the web series ‘Pataal Lok’ and ‘Panchayat,’ suffered a heart attack two days ago. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital, reports India Today. His condition is now stable, and he is likely to be discharged in a few days. The 34-year-old actor also shared health update on Instagram.
2. Actor Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra are reportedly blessed with a baby girl. The couple got married in the year 2023.
3. 1. Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO, handed over six strategic, indigenously designed and developed products to the Indian Navy. These are the Gamma Radiation Aerial Surveillance System, Environmental Surveillance Vehicle, Vehicle Radiological Contamination Monitoring System, Underwater Gamma Radiation Monitoring System, Dirt Extractor and Cross Contamination Monitor and Organ Radioactivity Detection System.
2. Yesterday, National Cadet Corps (NCC) completes 77 years of service, leadership, youth training.
3. DRDO has successfully test-fired a 1,500 km range hypersonic cruise missile under Project Vishnu, achieving speeds above Mach 8. The missile is scramjet-powered, can carry a 2,000 kg warhead, and is capable of low-altitude, evasive flight, placing India among a select group with such capability.
4. The IAF and General Electric are planning to set up local maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities for F-404 engines as India scales up its Tejas Mk1A fleet.
5. Second GE 404 engine delivered to HAL, 12 Tejas Mk 1 A to be delivered by year-end. GE Aerospace has said it will deliver 10 engines by the end of this year.
