1. The 7th Annual International Conference of the Innovative Physician Forum is being held in New Delhi yesterday. The conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

2. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has officially announced plans to construct the country’s second-largest space station in Gujarat, marking a significant expansion of India’s space infrastructure. This ambitious project, with an estimated cost of ₹10,000 crore, is already progressing rapidly and will be situated between Diu and Veraval on the Gujarat coast.

3. Senior leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad today took over as the President of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the 13th time after the recently held organisational elections.

The language row began after the Maharashtra government’s decision-later rolled back-to make Hindi a mandatory third language in primary schools. The policy was met with strong resistance from key Marathi leaders like Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, who saw it as a threat to Marathi linguistic and cultural identity.

11. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was discharged from Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad on Saturday, July 5, after a three-day stay for medical treatment. The 71-year-old leader, popularly known as KCR, was admitted on July 3 following complaints of general weakness.

5. Fake ‘Lady Singham’ caught after two years:
Mona Bugalia, a 28-year-old from Rajasthan, impersonated a sub-inspector for nearly two years arrested. She not only evaded the police eye but also trained with them and took pictures with senior officers in Jaipur. She has been arrested now.

After failing the exam, the woman faked as a sub-inspector in front of the public with the support of fake documents.

6. A new campaign by the Congress party in Bihar has led to controversy after sanitary pad boxes featuring Rahul Gandhi’s photo were distributed as part of the “Priyadarshini Udaan Yojana.” The party aims to give out five lakh sanitary pad boxes to promote menstrual hygiene among rural women. However, political opponents and members of the public have raised concerns about the design.

1. World Bank has placed India among world’s Most Equal Societies. According to the World Bank, India’s Gini Index stands at 25.5, making it the fourth most equal country in the world, after the Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Belarus. The Gini Index is a simple yet powerful way to understand how income, wealth or consumption is equally distributed across households or individuals in a country.

2. Filmistan Studios, one of Mumbai’s oldest and most iconic film studios, has been officially sold to Arkade Developers for Rs 183 crore. The transaction was registered on July 3, marking the end of an era for a studio that helped shape the golden age of Hindi cinema. Once a thriving base for actors, technicians, and production houses, the Goregaon West property is now set to be redeveloped into ultra-luxury residential towers.

Founded in 1943 by Sasadhar Mukherjee, grandfather to Kajol and Rani Mukerji, along with actor Ashok Kumar, Gyan Mukherjee, and Rai Bahadur Chunilal, Filmistan Studios emerged from a split with Bombay Talkies and quickly became a cornerstone of Hindi filmmaking.

3. Director Pravin Narayanan has defended the title of ‘Janaki vs State of Kerala’, suggesting that changing it at this stage is impractical. The release of the Malayalam film, starring minister Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran, has been delayed following a demand from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to change its title. The first HAL TEJAS MK-1A fighter jet is set to roll out from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s operational Nashik production facility by the end of July 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities. HAL Chairman and Managing Director DK Sunil confirmed.

2. Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s leading public sector shipbuilding and ship repair company, has entered into a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea-based HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. Ltd. (HD KSOE), a global leader in shipbuilding and marine engineering.

3. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is actively considering the procurement of Air Lora air-launched ballistic missiles (ALBM) developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), marking a significant potential leap in India’s aerial strike and deterrence capabilities.

4. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is advancing the nation’s aerial combat capabilities with the development of the Astra MK-3 missile, now officially renamed Gandiva. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hasi unequivocally denied reports suggesting that Islamabad has finalised a deal to purchase China’s advanced J-35A stealth fighter jets, characterising the speculation as “media hype” designed to boost Chinese defence sales. This categorical rejection comes amid swirling reports that Pakistan would become the first international operator of China’s fifth-generation stealth fighter.
