election commission to launch matadata junction

1. The Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar launched a yearlong Voter Awareness Program ‘Matdata Junction’ during an event organized at Akashvani Rang Bhavan.

2. International Solar Alliance’s Fifth Assembly will be held in New Delhi from 17th to 20th October.

3. Akasa Air, which took to the skies two months ago, will allow domesticated dogs and cats in cabin as well as cargo from November.

4. ASSAM : Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J P Nadda will reach Guwahati on Friday evening to take part in a host of events. Both leaders will take part in the party’s state core committee meeting in Guwahati Friday evening.

5. DELHI govt has launched a month-long intensive anti-dust campaign from 06 Oct. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said under the campaign, the construction sites will have to compulsorily follow all anti-dust norms.

6. GUJARAT : Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge reached Ahmedabad on Thursday to start his campaign for the Congress presidential elections from Gujarat.

7. MAHARASHTRA CM Eknath Shinde has written to the Election Commission, asking it to urgently allot the Shiv Sena’s bow and arrow symbol to his faction in view of the coming by-election in Andheri East.

NAGALAND Police Clashes With Agitating Teachers Amid Protest: Over 800 contractual teachers were terminated two years back after they failed to clear the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET), and have been protesting since then under the banner of the Meghalaya Government Lower Primary Contractual Teachers’ Association (MGLPCTA).

9. TAMIL NADU : Shashi Tharoor, running for the post of the first non-Gandhi president of the Congress in more than two decades, got a very cold shoulder from party delegates in Tamil Nadu. The 66-year-old was in Chennai to seek support of the 700-plus Congress delegates from the state who can vote in the election. But only 12 or so attended the meeting, held at Sathiamoorthy Bhavan.

12. UTTARAKHAND : 33 members of a wedding party were killed and 19 injured when a bus carrying them fell into a 500-metre deep gorge near Simri bend in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district on Wednesday.

13. UTTARKASHI, the search operation for mountaineers trapped is underway. Total 16 bodies have been recovered so far. out of them two instructors & 14 trainees several still missing. The incident occurred after the mountaineers met an avalanche on Draupadi Ka Danda-II on 4th October.

14. UTTAR PRADESH CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed officials to run a campaign to make roads in the state pothole-free by November 15.

15. WEST BENGAL at least eight people died and several were feared missing in West Bengal’s Malbazar in Jalpaiguri district after they were swept away due to flash floods in Mal river during Durga Visarjan on Wednesday night, October 5.

1. HARYANA : The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued notices to Haryana Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, DGP regarding the death of four persons who died after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning the sewer tank in a private hospital in Faridabad district of Haryana on 05 Oct.

2. An office memorandum was issued by the Union Law Ministry notifying the appointment of Delhi High Court judge Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma as the presiding officer of the UAPA Tribunal for reviewing the five-year ban imposed on Popular Front of India (PFI) and its affiliate organisations.

3. Cough Syrups Linked To Gambia Child Deaths Were Not Sold In India : Samples of cough syrups linked by the World Health Organization to the deaths of dozens of children in the Gambia have been sent for tests, the Health Ministry said on Thursday, underlining that the products were made only for exports and not sold in India.

4. The Mumbai police have arrested a man Rakesh Kumar Mishra, from Darbhanga district, Bihar in connection with anonymous calls threatening to target industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family members.

1. The Finance Ministry on 06 Oct released the monthly instalment of revenue deficit grant of Rs 7,183 crore to 14 states for the financial year 2022-23.

These states are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. The recommended grant is released by the Department of Expenditure to the States in 12 equated monthly instalments.

2. The Reserve Bank has issued directions for appointment of Internal Ombudsman for all Credit Information Companies – CICs. As announced in the monetary policy statement on 5 Aug 2022, all complaints that are partly or wholly rejected by CICs will be reviewed by the Internal Ombudsman before the final decision is conveyed to the complainant.

3. No charge for RuPay credit card use on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) for transactions up to Rs 2,000: NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).

4. Khadi India outlet at Connaught Place registers sale of 1.34 crores on October 2.
