Air India Crash Survivor Recalls Terrorizing Moment: “It All Went Wrong in 30 Seconds”

Ahmedabad plane crash 3

One of the passengers who sat in seat 11A on an Air India flight that ended in tragedy has broken her silence with a chilling account of the events that precipitated the crash. In an interview after the harrowing experience, the survivor described how what had started as a routine trip ended up as a nightmare within a matter of seconds of liftoff. As the survivor told media sources, indications of trouble cropped up almost right away—within 30 seconds after liftoff.

‘Loud Bang, Then Chaos’

The passenger remembered hearing a loud noise, followed by intense shaking of the plane. “It was only 30 seconds into flying when we experienced a sudden shake. There was a loud bang that shocked everybody. “It didn’t sound right,” said the passenger.

Panic set in and panicked passengers screamed and prepared for impact. The crew, while attempting to remain calm, had little time to react. The unexpectedness of the breakdown did not afford anybody an opportunity to mentally or physically prepare.

Miraculous Escape Amidst Devastation

When the plane crash-landed, everyone feared for their lives. Seat 11A, being in somewhat of the middle section of the plane, was less damaged than some, perhaps a reason why the survivor was able to get out. The passenger spoke of anguish over those who did not survive, describing survival as a “miracle.” Emergency responders were on the scene soon, and survivors were rescued and treated for wounds.

Investigation Underway

An investigation has already started to identify what led to the crash. Preliminary reports indicate a technical failure could have been the cause, but officials are not excluding other scenarios. Black box records are being examined to try to reconstruct the last seconds. In the meantime, Air India issued condolences and assured maximum cooperation with the investigation.

Demands for Accountability and Safety Checks

Aviation professionals and passengers are seeking answers and improved safety measures. Families of victims and survivors are calling upon the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct a thorough examination of Air India’s aircraft maintenance practice.

With each step of the investigation, the passenger in seat 11A’s words ring through in horrifying clarity: “30 seconds. That’s all it took to change everything.”
