2. Government will be calling an all-party meeting today in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam.
3. The Cabinet Committee on Security, CCS, reviewed the overall security situation in its meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence and directed all forces to maintain high vigil.
Five key decisions taken at CSS meet
(a) The Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism.
(b) The integrated checkpost Attari will be closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed over with valid endorsements may return through that route before 1st May 2025.
(c) Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC visa Exemption scheme. Any SPES visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals are deemed cancelled. Any Pakistani national currently in India under SPES visa has 48 hours to leave India.
(d) The Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in the Pakistani high commission in New Delhi are declared persona non grata. They have a week to leave India.
(e) India will be withdrawing its own Defence, Navy and Air advisors from the Indian high commission in Islamabad. These posts in the respective High Commissions are deemed annulled.
4. Four special flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai have been arranged in view of the Pahalgam Terror Attack.
5. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has exhorted the youth of the Nation to become active stakeholders in building a strong and self-reliant Bharat. He called upon the youth to engage themselves proactively in nation building, innovation and global leadership and contribute to the country’s growth story.
6. A tribal organisation catering to Kuki-Zo aspirations has called for observing May 3 as ‘Separation Day’ to mark “two years of total separation from the Meitei community” in Manipur.
7. Pahalgam attack: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cuts short US visit. The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet on Thursday to discuss the terror attack in which at least 26 people were killed.
8. Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, inaugurated the ‘Garia and Borsho Boron Utsav 2025’ on 21 April 2025, at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala. This two-day festival celebrates the cultural heritage of Tripura, focusing on the Garia Puja held by the Tripuri and Reang communities.
