1. President Ram Nath Kovind will pay a State Visit to Bangladesh from 15th to 17th of this month to attend the 50th Victory Day celebrations of Bangladesh. During the visit, the President will hold a delegation-level meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.
2. PM Modi on 14 Dec surpassed several world leaders and celebrities to retain the 8th position of YouGov’s World’s Most Admired Men for the year 2021. According to the international survey, Narendra Modi is the 8th most admired man in the world, ranked above world leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, China’s business tycoon Jack Ma & Pope Francis etc.
3. Indian govt has signed an air bubble agreement with Australia, under which all eligible passengers will be allowed to travel between both the countries.
4. A bilateral air bubble is a mechanism, under which countries resume flights with preconditions during Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, India has suspended all the scheduled international flight operations till January 31, 2022. So, under the aur bubble agreement, dedicated cargo flights with select countries continue to operate. India has signed bilateral air bubble agreements with around 33 countries. India had suspended international flight operations from March 23, 2020 in the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic.
5. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said that India become the first in line to buy Russian air defence system S-500.
6. French Defence Minister Florence Parley is visiting India this week with cooperation in the maritime domain topping the agenda with Paris keen to focus on New Delhi as its primary partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
7. China passed a controversial land border law on October 23 that would take effect on January 1, 2022, in an effort to improve border control and protection. The new law was passed amid heightened tensions between China and its neighbours over border disputes, similar to the coast guard law and marine traffic safety law enacted earlier this year. Since May 2020, China has been involved in a protracted land conflict with India along their disputed border.
8. A World Trade Organization (WTO) panel ruled that India violated international trade rules when it offered excessive subsidies for the production and export of sugar and sugarcane. The ruling comes after Brazil, Australia and Guatemala filed parallel complaints in 2019 against India. The government said the findings were “unacceptable” and its sugar subsidies are consistent with WTO agreements.
9. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a part of the IT ministry, has issued a ‘high severity’ warning for Google Chrome users. It said several vulnerabilities have been found in the Chrome browser that could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the users’ system. It advised users to upgrade to the browser’s latest version.
10. French fashion house Chanel on Tuesday named 52-year-old Indian national Leena Nair as its new global CEO.

1. South Korea has inked a $788 million contract with Australia to build a factory in Geelong, Victoria, which will manufacture 30 K-9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, laying the ground for defense cooperation between the two countries.
2. The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday said that Africa might not reach the target of vaccinating 70% of its 1.3 billion population against COVID-19 until the second half of 2024. Less than 8% of the continent’s population has received two doses. Just 20 of Africa’s 54 countries have fully vaccinated at least 10% of their populations against COVID-19.
3. Blasts at airport kill 2 policemen in Colombia: Two policemen were killed in two blasts at the airport in Colombia’s Cúcuta city on Tuesday, the police said. Defence Minister Diego Molano Aponte said blasts were caused by “terrorist” groups that operate in the city of half a million people, which is located on the border with Venezuela.

5. 53 killed, over 100 injured in fuel tanker explosion in Haiti: At least 53 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured after a fuel tanker exploded in Haiti’s Cap-Haïtien, the city’s Deputy Mayor Patrick Almonor said on Tuesday. The incident took place after residents rushed to collect fuel leaking from the tanker that had overturned, he added. The government declared three days of mourning for the dead.
6. A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale rattled the eastern part of Flores island in Indonesia leaving one injured and minor damage in several areas.
