1. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved two bills, including one to amend the Constitution to implement “one nation, one election”, and the draft legislations are likely to be introduced in Parliament in the ongoing winter session.
2. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has launched a new scheme, an extension of the Smart Cities Mission, with an allocation of Rs 8,000 crore to develop 8 new smart cities. The scheme aims to address rapid urbanization pressures, with 23 states submitting 28 proposals.
3. The Lok Sabha passed the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, simplifying the legal framework by merging the Railway Board Act, 1905, into the Railways Act, 1989. The bill grants statutory powers to the Railway Board and central authority over its composition while addressing connectivity gaps.
4. The Lok Sabha passed the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The Bill amends the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and intended to strengthen the efficient working of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA).
5. According to Government data, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, 1.6 crore LPG connections have been issued in the country for the period of 2023-24 to 2025-26.

1. Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal has informed that the eCourts Mission Mode Project is under implementation for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development of the Indian Judiciary.

Violence in Maharashtra: In Parbhani on Thursday police detained around 50 persons for the violent protests that rocked the central Maharashtra city over vandalising of a replica of the Constitution. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the mentally unstable man who allegedly damaged the replica was arrested immediately.
3. Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, whose fast-unto-death entered seventeenth day on Thursday, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that ensuring minimum support price to every farmer is like the fundamental right to live.
Dallewal has been on a fast-unto-death at the Khanauri border since November 26.
4. Supreme Court on Thursday restrained till further directions the courts in the country from entertaining fresh lawsuits and passing any effective interim or final orders in pending ones seeking to reclaim religious places, especially mosques and dargahs (a Muslim shrine).

1. The President of India awards Honorary General Rank to Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel: President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army on Suprabal Janasewashree General Ashok Raj Sigdel at an Investiture Ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mr Sigdel who is the Chief of the Army Staff in Nepali Army was awarded for his military prowess and contribution to fostering Nepal’s long and friendly association with India.
2. Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, General Ashok Raj Sigdel called on Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. During the meeting, they held discussions on a number of issues pertaining to bilateral relations.
