1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu will undertake a three-day visit to the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu from today. On the first day of her tour, the President will visit the Aviary at Jampore, Government Engineering College and NIFT Campus in Daman. On the second day, she will visit NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute in Silvassa.
2. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar stressed the importance of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) highlighting that it is one of the Directive Principles of State Policy. Addressing the fourth batch participants of the Rajya Sabha Internship Programme (Phase-I) in New Delhi, Mr Dhankar urged citizens to use natural resources wisely.
3. The government has extended the tenure of foreign secretary Vikram Misri till 14th July 2026. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension. He assumed the charge as Foreign Secretary on 15th July this year.
4. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate a two-day national workshop on Higher and Technical Education with Secretaries of States and Union Territories today. The workshop aims to disseminate various approaches and methodologies to implement National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and effectively articulate the roadmap and implementation strategies.
5. The National Book Trust (NBT) of India has showcased a prestigious replica of the original handwritten Indian Constitution manuscript at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). The exhibit is part of India’s comprehensive literary showcase at the event, which runs from November 6 to 17. This A3-sized copy of the Constitution of India is certified by the Lok Sabha Secretariat and features superior quality and clarity in the presentation of Acts and Stanzas.
6. Union Coal Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy called upon youth and students to play a key role in making the country a developed nation by 2047. He inaugurated the three-day National level Rashtriya Ekta Parv, under the aegis of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan in Secunderabad yesterday.
7. ISRO is planning to launch the SPADEX-2 mission in 2025-26, which aims to demonstrate the docking of two satellites in an elliptical orbit. This mission will serve as a precursor to the Chandrayaan-4 mission, focusing on advancing India’s capabilities in satellite docking technology.
8. National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT conducted a Convocation Ceremony for its 2023-24 graduating batch of students at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. On the occasion, Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh conferred degrees to over 800 students of various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in design, management and technology.
9. The tourism sector in Kerala is set for an important boost with the launch of a new seaplane service. This initiative is scheduled to commence on November 11 at Bolgatty Waterdrome in Kochi.
10. The Agriculture department is initiating a pilot project under the NAWO-DHAN scheme. This project aims to enhance horticulture agribusiness. It targets land owners and cultivators who have shown interest. An expression of interest (EoI) was released in October. NAWO-DHAN stands for New Agriculture Wealth Opportunities Driving Horticulture Agribusiness Networking. The project focuses on increasing food crop production in Kerala. It aims to utilise land that is currently fallow or unused.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed best wishes to Justice Sanjiv Khanna on taking oath as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India.

2. The Bombay High Court has granted permanent medical bail to Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, who is facing money laundering charges. Goyal, 75, had sought bail for cancer treatment. He was arrested last September by the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly laundering Rs 538.62 crore in loans from Canara Bank.
3. The trial for the RG Kar Medical College case began at the Sealdah Court in Kolkata yesterday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already submitted the chargesheet, and it has been accepted by the court. The prime accused in this case is Sanjay Rai, who was arrested earlier. The CBI has also arrested the former principal of the college, Sandip Ghosh, and Tala police station OC Abhijit Mondal in a money laundering and financial irregularities case at the medical college.
4. In Telangana, a major operation conducted on Sunday, HYDRAA clears illegal encroachments along several busy areas in Hyderabad, including Shastripuram, Vattepalli Road, and Filmnagar in Jubilee Hills. Encroachments on footpaths and sheds erected in front of shops were dismantled as part of this drive to improve public access and road safety.
5. In Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces continued their search operation in the dense forests of Keshwan and adjoining areas of Kishtwar district, a day after an Army officer died in a gunfight with terrorists holed up in the area. The security personnel have been scouring the forest for over four days, looking for the terrorists who abducted and killed two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) last Thursday.
6. The Supreme Court on Monday denied bail to former JD-S MP Prajwal Revanna, accused of rape and sexual assault.
7. Eleven suspected militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces on Monday after insurgents in camouflage uniforms, armed with sophisticated weapons, fired indiscriminately at a police station and an adjacent Central Reserve Police Force camp in Manipur’s Jiribam district.
8. Any NGO involved in anti-developmental activities, religious conversion, inciting protests with malicious intentions or that has links to terrorist or radical organisations will face the cancellation of its Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act registration, the Union home ministry has announced.

1. Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) delegation in New Delhi.
Mrs Sitharaman stated that AIIB should broaden its investment in priority sectors of climate adaptation and resilience, infrastructure development, energy security, and urban development and extend support for India’s next-generation reforms.
2. Union External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar reiterated India’s strong resolve to boost connectivity, market and investment linkages to achieve 100 billion dollar trade with Russia by 2030. Addressing the India-Russia Business Forum in Mumbai, Dr. Jaishankar said the bilateral trade currently stands at 66 billion dollars, making the 100 billion dollar aim more realistic.
3. A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit Sri Lanka next week for the third review of the island nation’s financing programme. The team, led by IMF Senior Mission Chief Peter Breuer, will assess Sri Lanka’s economic policies, progress on ongoing reforms, and the implementation of previous agreements with the IMF.
4. The Rajasthan government has introduced a groundbreaking interest subvention scheme. This initiative is designed to support farmers by enhancing their financial accessibility. The scheme provides important interest subsidies on both agricultural and non-agricultural loans.

1. The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will begin on the 20th of this month in Goa. Briefing the media at the curtain-raiser press conference in New Delhi yesterday, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan said that there has been immense response from filmmakers and audiences for IFFI.
2. Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s military drama ‘Amaran’ based on the life of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan is winning praise for its depiction of army life and intense tale of love between Mukund and his wife Indu Rebecca Varghese. However, now the film has drawn criticism from several groups in Tamil Nadu for its alleged biased portrayal of Muslims featuring them as terrorists.
However, a large number of political leaders, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and actors Rajinikanth and Suriya came out in support of the film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Haasaan’s Raaj Kamal Films International.
2. World-renowned Mridangam scholar Varadarao Kamalakara Rao breathed his last in Rajahmundry yesterday morning. He was 88. He received the President Medal from the Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan during his college days.

1. Defence Space Agency inaugurated a first-ever space exercise Antariksha Abhyas-2024 in New Delhi today. The three-day exercise is aimed at providing an enhanced understanding of space-based assets and services.
2. India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) warning regarding a likely missile test in the Bay of Bengal scheduled between November 15-17, 2024. The NOTAM indicates a no-fly zone extending 1,700 kilometers from the test site to ensure the safety of civilian and military aircraft during this period.
3. The Indian Navy is set to showcase its maritime prowess at the upcoming Operational Demonstration (OpDemo2024) in Puri, Odisha. This event coincides with Navy Day on December 4. President Droupadi Murmu will attend as the chief guest.
4. China has successfully launched a new group of remote-sensing satellites, known as PIESAT-2, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China. The launch occurred on 9 November 2024.
