6. The campaign for the bye-elections to be held on November 13 on 7 assembly seats of Rajasthan has intensified. Out of these, five seats – Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Jhunjhunu, Chaurasi and Khinvsar have become vacant due to the MLAs being elected as MPs. While Salumber and Ramgarh seats have been vacant due to the death of MLAs. A total of 69 candidates are in the fray in this bye-election.

In Kerala, with candidates of various political parties ramping up their outreach efforts, electioneering is in full swing in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and the two assembly constituencies of Chelakkara and Palakkad. While voting will take place on the 13th of this month in Wayanad and Chelakkara, polling has been deferred to the 20th of this month in Palakkad.

8. The Ministry of Women and Child Development is observing Adoption Awareness Month 2024 to encourage legal adoptions in the country. This year’s theme for the month is ‘Rehabilitation of Older Children through Foster Care and Foster Adoption.’

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a significant resolution on 6 November 2024, calling for dialogue with the Indian government regarding the restoration of Article 370, which previously granted special status to the region. This resolution was introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary.

10. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, chaired the 32nd meeting of the ‘Kendriya Hindi Samiti’ in New Delhi. The Kendriya Hindi Samiti is the apex body responsible for providing guidelines for the development and promotion of the Hindi language across the country.

11. India’s space sector, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the European Union’s Proba-3 Solar Observation Mission in December from Sriharikota. The satellite, arriving at Sriharikota, is designed to study the Sun’s faint corona, a crucial aspect of solar science. This marks India’s third collaboration with the EU in space.

12. The Government has approved the PM-Vidyalaxmi scheme to provide financial support to meritorious students. Vidya Lakshmi is a first of its kind portal for students seeking Education Loan. This portal has been developed under the guidance of Department of Financial Services (Ministry of Finance), Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education) and Indian Banks Association (IBA).

13. Madhya Pradesh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, approved a 35 percent reservation for women in all state government recruitments.

14. The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the ‘Shilp Samagam Mela 2024’ at Dilli Haat, New Delhi. This event aims to showcase and promote traditional handicrafts from various states in India.

15. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) announced the launch of the Digital India Common Service Centre (DICSC) project. This initiative targets rural areas in India, aiming to enhance digital access for citizens.

1. In Madhya Pradesh, cyclopiazonic acid has been found in the viscera of elephants died in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. According to the report, elephants have eaten large amounts of spoiled kodo plants. The actual toxicity of cyclopiazonic acid found in the samples is being calculated.

2. The Supreme Court’s recent guidelines to eliminate child marriages in Rajasthan by 2030 have provided a significant boost to civil society organizations working to combat this issue. With a focus on holding local panchayats, school authorities, and child protection officers accountable, these guidelines aim to address the widespread practice of child marriages in the state.

According to Rajasthan’s Child Marriage Statistics: 25.4% of women aged 20-24 in Rajasthan were married before the age of 18.

3. Over a hundred Imphal-bound goods trucks have been stranded near Mao gate area along the National Highway 2 in Manipur due to the indefinite commercial vehicular movement restriction imposed by the Senapati frontal organisations. Senapati is a district headquarter located about 60 km north of Imphal while Mao gate is located about 110 km north of Imphal.

The Waqf Board has claimed ownership of the historic Bidar Fort – a protected monument under the custody of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for more than 70 years – and two villages in Bidar taluk in a development that has taken ASI officers, district’s deputy commissioner and local elected representatives by both shock and surprise.

Once described as Asia’s largest fort, it was declared a protected monument in the Gazette of India on 29 Nov 1951. However, a notification issued on 17 Aug 2005, claimed the fort area as waqf property.

1. The government has decided to infuse fresh equity of 10,700 crore rupees for the Food Corporation of India.

1. The 55th International Film Festival of India will begin on the 20th of this month in Goa. The nine-day festival will concurrently feature the 18th edition of Film Bazaar which will run till the 24th of November.

2. War 2 will feature Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles. While a part of the film is shot in picturesque Italy and Rome, many believe that War 2 can rewrite box office numbers. According to reports, War 2 might be the film to open a box office collection of Rs 200 crore globally.

1. As winter approaches in eastern Ladakh, the Indian Army is intensifying preparations for approximately 50,000 troops stationed in the region amid ongoing tensions with China.

To combat the extreme winter conditions, where temperatures can plummet to minus 40 degrees Celsius and snowfall can reach up to 40 feet, the Indian Army has established modern habitats equipped with heating facilities.

2. Bharat Forge has secured a significant contract valued at approximately ₹7,000 crore to supply 307 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS) to the Indian Army.

3. An unidentified terrorist was eliminated during a security operation in the Choontpathri forest area of Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, on November 5. The operation was initiated based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the region. Security forces, including the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, engaged in a firefight with the militants.

4. Aero India 2025 is set to take place from 10 to 14 February, 2025, at the Indian Air Force (IAF) Yelahanka airbase in Bengaluru.

5. The 21st edition of the India-US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting was held in New Delhi on 6 November 2024. This significant event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General JP Mathew, Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff of India, and Lieutenant General Joshua M. Rudd, Deputy Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command.

6. The Indian Navy successfully conducted the third edition of the Mahasagar summit, continuing its flagship outreach initiative for maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). Held virtually under the theme, “Training Cooperation to Mitigate Common Maritime Security Challenges in the IOR,” the summit brought together senior leaders from 10 countries to discuss collaborative efforts to tackle shared maritime threats.

7. The 5th Edition of the Vietnam-Indian Bilateral Army Exercise, VINBAX 2024, commenced in Ambala. This exercise follows a previous bilateral exercise held in Vietnam in 2023. It represents an important step in improving relations between India and Vietnam.
