15. Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav concludes in Telangana : The Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav (BKM), held at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad, attracted over one lakh visitors and offered them a glimpse into the vibrant culture of northeast India.

The 8-day festival, jointly organised by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region, and the Ministry of Culture, featured more than 300 artists and artisans from the eight northeastern states.

16. India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over East, Northeast and South Peninsular regions of the country during the next 5-6 days. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today; and in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the next 5 days.

17. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday urged the Centre to reinstate the districts of Adilabad, Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad in the list of Left-Wing Extremism Affected (LWE) districts. These three districts were removed from the LWE list in the past.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday issued an advisory to Indian airlines operating Boeing 737 planes regarding the potential risk of a jammed rudder control system. Currently, Air India Express, Akasa Air and SpiceJet operate Boeing 737 planes. Together, they have nearly 100 such aircraft.

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, officials said on Monday.

3. On Sunday, an air show in Chennai turned tragic as five people lost their lives and 230 others were hospitalised. The combination of extreme heat and overcrowding overwhelmed the attendees, according to authorities. The event aimed to set a record by gathering around 16 lakh people but resulted in chaos and distress.

4. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K.Stalin has announced Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia to the family of the deceased spectators of the airshow held at Chennai yesterday. Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, he said that the Government was fully prepared to face any situation and had rendered full cooperation to the Indian AIr Force.

5. A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to RJD chief and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav in the land-for-jobs money laundering case.

6. The Delhi High Court will hear on November 25 the bail plea of former JNU student Umar Khalid and student activist Sharjeel Imam in a UAPA case related to the alleged larger conspiracy behind the communal riots in February 2020.

1. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has formed an internal committee to comprehensively review the Income-tax Act to oversee a comprehensive review of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The Ministry of Finance said that the goal of this committee is to make the Act concise, clear, and easy to understand, which will reduce disputes, and litigation, and provide greater tax certainty to taxpayers.

2. The Government extends tenure of Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Mr M. Rajeshwar Rao for 1 year with effect from the 9th of October 2024.

3. The 3-day meeting of Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has began yesterday. Experts suggest that the RBI is likely to maintain the status quo on key interest rates. MPC Chairman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das will reveal the outcome of the three-day discussion on Wednesday.

4. Business tycoon Ratan Naval Tata is all ok and only going under regular health check-ups at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Earlier, it was reported that Ratan Tata’s blood pressure fell drastically and he is being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for emergency treatment.

5. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has significantly boosted its stake in Bank of Maharashtra from 4.05% to 7.10%, as disclosed in an exchange filing on October 5, 2024. This increase follows the allotment of 25.96 crore equity shares priced at ₹57.36 each through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP).

1. 70th National Film Awards ceremony
President Smt Droupadi Murmu will confer the 70th National Film Awards for the year 2022 in New Delhi today (08 Oct).

(a) On the occasion, legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest recognition in the field of Cinema.

(b) The best actor award will be conferred on Rishab Shetty for his stupendous performance in the Kannada film Kantara

(c) The Best Actress award will be received by Nithya Menen for the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for the Gujarati film Kutch Express.

2. The Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’ garnered acclaim at the KinoBravo International Film Festival in Russia by winning the award for Best Music. The accolade was presented to composer Sushin Shyam, with director Chidambaram accepting the award on behalf of the film.

3. Actor-producer Rana Daggubati has reportedly planned to distribute the Bollywood film ‘Jigra’ in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ which sees her in a fierce avatar of a girl who’s ready to do anything to protect her brother Ankur (played by Vedang Raina), has gotten a great response for its trailer. The film almost makes one call Alia ‘Lady Bachchan’ and fans are looking forward to seeing ‘Jigra’. It’s set to release on October 11.

1. The MALABAR exercise will kick off from 8th October in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It will be hosted by India, this year’s exercise will see the participation of Australia, Japan, and the United States of America beginning with the Harbour Phase in Visakhapatnam, followed by the sea phase. The exercise will be conducted from 8th October to 18th October.

2. The Indian Army on Monday rolled out its first overhauled T-90 ‘Bhishma’ tank, a step towards ensuring the operational readiness of its armoured formations. Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi witnessed the rollout ceremony.

3. The mega seven thousand Kilometer “Vayu Veer Vijeta” car rally will be flagged off from Thoise in Ladakh to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) today. The car rally will reach Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on the 29th of this month where it will culminate its journey.

4. Recently, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted three flight tests of the 4th Generation Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan.
