1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat during the next two days.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, stage is set for voting for the second phase of assembly elections today. Twenty Six assembly constituencies will go to polls in this phase. The voting will be held from 7 AM to 6 PM. All arrangements have been put in place to ensure free, fair, and smooth polling in this phase.

3. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that a target has been set up to establish the automatic train protection system KAVACH 4.O systems across the country by December, 2030.

4. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and a technology company, Intuitive, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an innovative new training centre for robotic-assisted surgery. The AIIMS da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery training centre will focus on equipping surgeons and care teams with the skills and technology to perform robotic-assisted surgery across specialities, including urology, gynaecology, general surgery, and more.

5. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacted with farmers and Farmers Union in New Delhi.

6. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the second edition of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Gautam Buddha Nagar today. The five-day trade show will conclude on 29th September. The event will showcase the trade and culture of Uttar Pradesh.

7. In response to the increasing use of tobacco among young people, India’s Union Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare have issued important guidelines to make educational institutions tobacco-free. This initiative, which is tied to the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, aims to protect children and teenagers from becoming addicted to tobacco.

8. For the second year in a row, Kerala has secured the top spot in the 2024 State Food Safety Index (SFSI). This achievement reinforces Kerala’s commitment to maintaining high standards in food safety across India.

9. Senior IPS officers Alok Ranjan and Amit Garg have been appointed as the heads of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), respectively.

10. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) on 24 September 2024, in New Delhi. 11. The Telangana state government has assured the Telangana High Court that it will implement the economically weaker section (EWS) quota in MBBS/BDS admissions for 2024-2025.

12. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to prepare a special project within the next 100 days on citizen services and government programmes through the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS).

13. The Odisha government on Tuesday decided to test the quality of ghee used for preparation of offerings at the Jagannath temple in Puri.

14. Miss Rhea Singha, a 19-year-old model from Gujarat, was crowned Miss Universe India 2024 in Jaipur. She will represent India at the global Miss Universe competition in Mexico.

15. PITRU PAKSHA, known as the fortnight of ancestors, is a revered period in Hindu tradition dedicated to paying homage to departed souls. In 2024, Pitru Paksha spans from September 18 to October 2. It is believed that performing specific rituals during this sacred time brings peace to the souls of ancestors, which in turn bestows blessings and prosperity and removes afflictions (doshas) linked to one’s family lineage.

1. Supreme Court directs States and Union Territories to implement Centre’s guidelines on safety and security of children in schools.

2. In Tripura, more than 500 extremists of two outfits, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) surrendered before the State government to return to the mainstream.

3. The Karnataka High Court has rejected a petition filed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah challenging the Governor’s sanction to prosecute him in the MUDA land allotment case.

4. The Supreme Court condemned the expansion of the non-resident Indian (NRI) quota in Punjab’s medical colleges. The Apex Court, calling it a fraud, observed that such steps give way to backdoor entries and force meritorious students out of the admission process.

5. All India Congress Committee has suspended membership of Congress leader Rajesh Joon for a period of six years for being involved in anti-party activities. Mr. Rajesh Joon is contesting the assembly election as an independent candidate from Bahadurgarh constituency.

6. BJP leader Subramaniya Swamy has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court, raising concerns over the alleged use of substandard ingredients, including the presence of animal fat, in the preparation of the sacred laddus at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Andhrapradesh.

7. Andhrapradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan cleansed on Tuesday the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop the Indrakeeladri Hill in Vijayawada as part of his 11-day Prayaschitta Deeksha over alleged defiling of Tirupati laddu prasadam during the rule of previous YSRC government.

As part of the cleansing ritual, he washed the temple’s steps with water and smeared vermilion and turmeric powder on them. He then offered special prayers and sought the blessings of the presiding deity Kanaka Durga.

1. Oil prices surged more than two per cent following news of monetary stimulus from top importer China and supply concerns amid escalating Middle East conflict.

In the global crude market, Brent crude was trading 2.1% up at 75 dollars and 47 cents per barrel and the U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was 2.3% up at 71 dollars and 99 cents per barrel.

2. The Securities and Exchange Board of India fined Jai Anmol Ambani ₹1 crore for irregularities in Reliance Home Finance, alleging he approved ₹40 crore in unsecured loans.

3. KVS Manian has officially taken charge as the Managing Director and CEO of Federal Bank, effective 23 September 2024.

1. The preparation review meeting for the International Film Festival 2024 was held by Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in Panaji yesterday.

IFFI is to be held between the 20th and 28th of November in Goa, which will be the 55th edition of this festival.

2. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Media and Entertainment Association of India, has officially launched the WAVES Anime and Manga Contest (WAM).

This contest is a part of the Create in India Challenge, aiming to nurture local talent and tap into the growing interest in Japanese manga and anime among Indian audiences. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the Create in India Challenge—Season One in New Delhi last month.

3. Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of the legendary actress Sridevi, is all set to make her South Indian film debut with the highly anticipated movie DEVARA starring opposite N.T. Rama Rao Jr. (Jr NTR).

1. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh reiterated the Government’s commitment to modernise and bolster the Armed Forces and Indian Coast Guard with indigenous platforms and equipment. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the 41st edition of three-day Indian Coast Guard Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi .

2. The India-Oman joint military exercise, AL-NAJAH 5 – 2024, currently underway at the Rabkoot Training Area in Oman, is in full swing. The exercise, which began on 13th September, will continue until 26th September. The Indian Army contingent, comprising 60 personnel, is represented by a battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, along with personnel from other arms and services.

3. The Army has bolstered its high-altitude capabilities with the induction of 100 robotic mules in forward areas. Moreover, logistics drones are currently undergoing trials.

4. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that Indian Army working closely with government agencies and national initiatives is important to enhance India’s multi-domain capabilities.

5. US is keen to strengthen ties with India, US President Joe Biden highlighted the progress in India’s procurement of 31 long-endurance MQ-9B armed drones from American defence major General Atomics and also referred to the setting up of a semiconductor plant in Kolkata, West Bengal.
