1. PM Modi arrives in New Delhi after concluding a three-day successful visit to the United States. The Prime Minister attended the Quad Leaders’ Summit, a large Indian-American community event, addressed the United Nations Summit of the Future and held multiple bilateral meetings with the heads of several other countries.

2. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor, Touhid Hossain on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. EAM Dr S Jaishankar to address UNGA General Debate on 28th September.

3. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan to attend the 9th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

4. India continues to be the largest trading partner of Nepal. According to Nepal Trade Statistics released by the Department of Customs, Nepal’s trade deficit stood at NPR 237.45 billion till mid-September of fiscal year 2024-25.

5. The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) was cancelled by the Union Home Ministry for alleged rule violations. The ICA, established in 1895, is an apex body representing cooperatives worldwide and has over 1 billion members.

1. Death toll in Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon rises to 558; World leaders and United Nations call for urgent de-escalation in the region.

2. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, addressing the World Leader Forum organised by Columbia University in New York, has urged Nepali youths living abroad to return home and create employment opportunities.

3. In Japan, a 50-centimetre tsunami struck an island south of Tokyo today following a 5.9-magnitude earthquake.

4. Indian-origin NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has taken command of the International Space Station (ISS), marking her second time leading the orbiting laboratory.

5. The 10th annual World Free Zones Organisation (World FZO) Congress commenced at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. Running from September 23rd to 25th, this year’s event brings together leading experts, decision-makers, and stakeholders from the free zones, logistics, and multilateral sectors globally.

NASA announced that Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko handed over the command of the space station to Sunita Williams at a ceremony onboard the space station.

7. Harini Amarasuriya was sworn in as the 16th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on Tuesday, becoming the third woman to hold this esteemed office in the nation’s history. Now the president of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

8. World Gorilla Day, celebrated on September 24, reminds us of the importance of protecting gorillas.
