1. The President Smt. Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to the citizens, especially the people of Odisha on the occasion of an agricultural festival Nuakhai.

2. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert of extremely heavy rainfall warning for coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The IMD has said, the depression over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal has moved northwestwards and lay over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal. It is now 150 kilometre south-southeast of Puri, Odisha.

4. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called on Governor S. Abdul Nazeer at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada. He briefed the Governor on the flood situation and the damage caused due to heavy rains in several parts of the State.

7. Rajya Sabha MP from Trinamool Congress Jawhar Sircar has decided to resign from the post and politics. He has sent a letter to the party supremo and the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee in this regard. In his open letter, Sircar expressed his anguish over the present situation in the state.

8. CV Ananda Bose, the West Bengal governor, on Sunday directed Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to replace the police chief and summon an emergency cabinet meeting. The governor believes the state government is unable to handle the current law and order situation in the state.

9. Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh, along with the ruling party MLAs, including his Cabinet colleagues and the Assembly Speaker, submitted a memorandum to Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya on Sunday, demanding that the unified command of the state government be handed over to the chief minister.

10. Wrestler and Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat on Sunday said she expects to win each battle with the blessings of people as kicks off her campaign for the upcoming assembly election. Phogat, 30, has been fielded from the Julana assembly segment for the upcoming assembly poll. Polling in Haryana will take place on October 5 while the counting of votes for the elections to the 90-member assembly will take place on October 8.

3. Protests erupted in the Keisampat area of Imphal, Manipur, on the evening of September 8, as a torch rally was carried out by a large group of demonstrators. The protest was organized to raise voices against the escalating violence that has engulfed the state in recent weeks, sparking widespread concern among residents.

1. In Chhattisgarh, seven people have been killed in a lightning strike. The incident took place in Mohtara village near Baloda Bazar town. The victims were standing under a tree amid heavy rain when they were struck by the lightning.

2. Death toll in the incident of building collapse in Lucknow has reached 8 after three more bodies recovered from the debris. 28 people are injured and they have been admitted to different hospitals.

3. In Bihar, Islampur bound Magadh Express (Train no 20802) was split into two parts today when the coupling of the train was broken near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district. Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway Saraswati Chandra said the incident occurred on the down line of Buxar – Danapur rail section between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur stations around 11 am. Nine bogies of the train were separated from the engine in the incident. The CPRO, said no casualty or injury have been reported in the incident.

1. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have welcomed their first child, a girl, on Sunday, September 8. Deepika delivered the baby at Mumbai’s Reliance Foundation Hospital. Deepika and Ranveer got married in 2018 after dating for six years.

2. Actress turned politican, Kangana Ranaut’s political drama Emergency has received a ‘U/A’ certificate from the CBFC after months of controversy and legal battles. The film, which explores the Emergency period in India, faced protests and demands for edits. The filmmakers are now preparing to announce a new release date.

3. Malayalam film actor Vinayakan was arrested at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Saturday evening after allegedly causing a disturbance while being intoxicated. Vinayakan was booked under sections 118(A) and 117(E) of the Kerala Police Act. He was later let off on bail after a medical examination.

1. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today took a strong stance against the Congress Party’s claims to restore Article 370, asserting that as long as the BJP is in power, the article will not be reinstated. Mr Singh emphasized the BJP’s commitment to maintaining the current status and focused on the significant progress made in J&K under the party’s leadership.

2. The second part of India’s largest multilateral air exercise, ‘Exercise Tarang Shakti 24’, is being held at Air Force Station Jodhpur from August 30 to September 13. Countries like Australia, Greece, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Japan, Singapore, and the United States are taking part in the exercise.

The first phase of Tarang Shakti took place at the Sulur air base in Coimbatore from August 6 to August 14, while the second phase is currently underway at Jodhpur air base.

3. Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace Technologies, a Bangalore-based firm, is working on developing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that aims to enhance India’s military capabilities. Their latest project, the FWD-200B, is an indigenous military-grade bomber UAV designed to reduce India’s reliance on expensive imported drones and bolster the Make in India initiative.

Recently Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), conducted an insightful visit to the Army Medical Corps (AMC) Centre & College in Lucknow, where he thoroughly reviewed both the training programs and ongoing infrastructure developments.

5. Former Air Marshal Anil Chopra has emphasized the urgent necessity for India to acquire the F-35 stealth fighter jet as a stopgap measure to counter the growing threat posed by China’s J-20 fighter jets. He highlighted that China is rapidly modernizing its military and plans to deploy up to 1,000 J-20 fighters by 2035.
