5. An inter-ministerial central government team has arrived yesterday in Maharashtra to conduct an on-ground assessment of the drought situation and crop damage during the 2026 Kharif season.
6. Mizoram is set to host the North East Bankers’ Conclave 3.0 on 13th of this month, with Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia expected to attend the event, officials said on 14th October.
7. The Telangana government is spending ₹1,108. 27 crore for the development and expansion of a temple complex in Manchirevula village, close to the Musi river, as part of the Musi Riverfront Development project.
8. The local traditions and cultural expressions of Madhya Pradesh are being presented through 22 mementos in the PM Mementos e-Auction this year. The collection form a visual map of the State’s living heritage, connecting traditions and historic places with indigenous artistic expression, ecological heritage, public institutions and symbols of India’s national identity.
9. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced the approval of 993.64 crore rupees for the development of National Highway-10 between Rangpo and Ranipool in Sikkim.

Five-Day Geriatric Care Training Programme to Begin in Diu : The National Institute of Social Defence under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with the Office of the Collector, Diu, Union Territory Administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu will organise a Five-Day Geriatric Care Training Programme in Diu District.
11. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s mother, Rupi Soren, has passed away at the age of 80. President Smt Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the demise of Rupi Soren.

The office of the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has announced a series of special measures to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll and no ineligible person remains on it. A special house-to-house campaign is also being conducted to identify eligible voters whose names are not included in the draft electoral roll. BLOs are collecting Form 6 from such new voters after verifying their eligibility.
13. In view of the heavy rush of passengers during the festive season, Northern Railway will operate two trips of reserved festival special trains between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
Train No. 04083 New Delhi-Katra will depart from New Delhi at 2 PM on October 9 and 16, reaching Katra at 3 AM the next day. The return train, 04084 Katra-New Delhi, will leave Katra at 10 AM on October 10 and 17, reaching New Delhi at 11:30 PM the same day.
14. The Seva Sankalp Bike Yatra from Vadnagar to Kashi, which started on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on 17th September, successfully concluded.
15. The India Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains are likely to continue in Kerala today. Yellow Alert has been issued in nine of the 14 districts, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall. Seven districts are under Yellow Alert. There is also a warning of the possibility of sea incursion along the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram district.

1. The Supreme Court has questioned a Jharkhand government rule that removed the requirement of six months’ remaining service for appointing a Director General of Police (DGP). The Court said the rule may conflict with its earlier directions in the Prakash Singh police-reforms case. The state has been given an opportunity to defend or revise the rule.
2. The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to establish a committee to examine pharmaceutical companies’ marketing practices, including gifts and other benefits offered to doctors. The aim is to address unethical promotional practices in the healthcare sector.
3. The Supreme Court has called for increased police patrolling, improved surveillance and proper background verification of public-transport and ride-sharing drivers to strengthen women’s safety.

1. The Reserve Bank of India raised the repo rate by 0.25 percentage points to 5.50%, its first rate hike since February 2023, to address inflation risks.

Brent crude oil trading above $100 per barrel directly threatens India’s economy due to its heavy reliance on foreign energy supplies and the resulting strain on external accounts and domestic inflation.
