1. In Football, India defeated Nepal 4-2 in a high-octane semi-final of SAFF Under-17 2024 Championship at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan. In the final, India will face Bangladesh on the 30th of September.
2. Gulveer Singh broke his national record in the men’s 5000m event by clocking 13:11.82 to win gold at World Athletics Continental Tour in Niigata, Japan on Saturday.
Gulveer, in June this year, had broken Avinash Sable’s record at the 2024 Portland Track Festival by clocking 13:18.92.
3. In Cricket, the Day 2 of the second and final test between India and Bangladesh has been called off due to rain without a ball being bowled at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. For Bangladesh, Mominul Haque, with 40 runs, and Mushfiqur Rahim, with six runs, were at the crease.
4. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah took to social media to announce that players in the Indian Premier League will get a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game, which can be INR 1.05 crores on top of their contracted amount.
