1. The Paris 2024 Paralympics schedule for India starts on August 28 and will conclude on September 9. India’s largest-ever Paralympic contingent of 84 members is set to compete across 12 sports in France.
2. India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on October 6 in the women’s T20 World Cup, which gets underway on 3 October 2024.
Dubai and Sharjah are the only two venues for the event, hosting a total of 23 matches.
The groups remain the same. Defending champions Australia are clubbed alongside India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Group A.
Group B comprises South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland.
3. the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Monday introduced prize money for player-of-the-match and player-of-the-tournament award winners in all women’s and junior cricket competitions at domestic level.
4. Pakistan were docked six points on the World Test Championship (WTC) table while Bangladesh were penalised three points for maintaining slow over rate during the first Test in Rawalpindi.
5. The US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, is all set to take place from 26 August. India’s ace singles player Sumit Nagal and top doubles player Rohan Bopanna are ready to lead the Indian challenge at the tournament. The competition will be held at Flushing Meadows Park in New York.
The 27-year-old Nagal will be a major hope for India in the singles event. Sumit Nagal is set to become the first Indian male tennis player since 2019 to compete in the singles events of all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single year.
