1. In Hockey, Germany defeated India in a thrilling special shootout to emerge as the winner of the two match Test series at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.

The shoot out was arranged after India won yesterday match 5-3 to level the series 1-1. In the shoot-out India lost by 1-3.

2. In Men’s Cricket, India were 16 for one in their first innings against New Zealand at stumps on the first day of the second Test in Pune. Earlier, New Zealand’s innings was wrapped up for 259 as all-rounder Washington Sundar picked his maiden 5-wicket haul.

3. In women’s cricket, India defeated New Zealand by 59 runs in the first One-Day International of a three-match series at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad this evening. Chasing the target of 228 runs New Zealand were all out for 168 in 40.4 overs. Earlier, opting to bat, India were all out for 227 runs in 44.3 overs.

4. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has invited applications for Sports Awards 2024. Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports.

(a) The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is given for spectacular and outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson.

(b) The Arjuna Award is given for consistently outstanding performance by a sportsperson.

(c) The Arjuna Award (Lifetime) has been introduced and will be given for lifetime contribution to sports development.

(d) The Dronacharya Award goes to coaches for producing medal winners at prestigious international sports events.

The applications of eligible sportspersons, coaches, and entities for the awards must be submitted at the online portal dbtyas-sports.gov.in by 14th November.

5. Kagiso Rabada has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the fastest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets based on balls bowled, achieving the milestone in just 11,817 deliveries. The South African pace sensation is now among the greats, surpassing legends like Waqar Younis (12,602 balls) and Dale Steyn (12,605 balls).
