Khelo India Para Games 2025: Athletics and Shooting Events Shine on Day 2.
(a) In Shot Put event, Ravi Rongali secured the gold medal, while Abhishek claimed silver and Manoj Singaraja won bronze.
(b) In the 100-metre run, Chaitanya clinched gold, Meet Tadhani took silver, and Kalaram Patel secured bronze.
(c) In track and field, Ramesh Shanguman won gold in the Men’s 800m T53/54 category
The eight-day championship features participation from more than 1,300 para-athletes across six sports, including Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Powerlifting, Para Shooting, and Para Table Tennis.
2. In the Kabaddi World Cup, India and hosts England have reached the final of the women’s category of the World Cup at Wolverhampton. In the semifinals, while Indian women defeated Hong Kong 53-15 England defeated Wales 72-25. The final match between India and England will be played on Sunday.
3. In Squash, India’s Anahat Singh has clinched the women’s title, and Veer Chotrani won the men’s title of the PSA Challenger squash in Chennai today. The third-seeded Anahat Singh defeated top-seed Akanksha Salunkhe 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 11-5 in the final.
4. The BCCI has lifted the ban on using saliva to shine the ball in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after most captains supported the move. This makes the IPL the first major cricket league to reverse the COVID-era restriction. The ICC banned the age-old practice of applying saliva on the ball in 2020 as a health precaution during the pandemic.
5. At the Indian Open Throws Competition 2025, Seema clinched the gold medal in the women’s discus throw event in Navi Mumbai, with a 56.39-metre effort.
6. India will host the 11th Asian Swimming Championship at the Naranpura Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. The Swimming Federation of India announced that it has received in-principle approval from both the Gujarat government and Asia Aquatics to organize the championship. The event will take place from October 1 to 15.
7. India has taken a major step toward hosting global sporting events by officially submitting an expression of interest to organize the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 2030. The bid, led by Commonwealth Games Association of India President PT Usha.
8. Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry has been elected as President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She has become the first female President in IOC history. The 41-year-old Zimbabwean was elected at the 144th IOC Session in Costa Navarino, Greece.
