1. The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has appointed Satya Prakash Sangwan as the Chef de Mission (CMD) of the Indian contingent for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Sangwan, is also the Vice-President of PCI. Sangwan will lead India’s largest-ever contingent of 84 para-athletes competing across 12 sports disciplines. The President of the Paralympic Committee of India is Devendra Jhajharia.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Indian contingent for Paris Paralympics which will begin on 28th of this month. The interaction was held through video conferencing.
3. Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra confirmed last week that he will be taking part at the Lausanne Diamond League meet on Thursday.
4. The World Cricketers Association (WCA) has announced it will commence an independent review of the game’s global structure, with the hope that the process gives clarity into solving problems related to a hectic cricket calendar.
5. The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to X on Tuesday (August 20) to announce the change in venue for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament has been moved out of Bangladesh and will now take place in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to 20.
