2. In Women’s T20I Cricket, India defeated the West Indies by 60 runs in the third and final match to clinch the series 2-1 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai last night.
Put in to bat first, India posted their highest-ever total in T20Is, scoring 217 for four in 20 overs, thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s 77 runs off 47 balls and Richa Ghosh’s quickfire 54 runs off just 21 balls. 3. The Sports Ministry informed that to promote sports including games like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, and Football in the country several schemes including the Khelo India scheme are being implemented in the Country.
Under the Khelo India Scheme, 1250 Khelo India Centres (KICs) have been approved, out of which 1041 have been notified across the country.
4. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that matches between India and Pakistan in upcoming ICC events till 2027 will be played at neutral venues. The ruling ends uncertainty over the Champions Trophy’s future, which is to be played in February and March next year in Pakistan. Now, the tournament will be played in a hybrid model across Pakistan and at a neutral venue.
This decision also applies to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 hosted by India and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
5. Indian Navy’s Kiran Ankush Jadhav beat Paris Olympic bronze medallist Swapnil Kusale and another Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar to clinch the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) title at the 67th National Shooting Championship Competitions in Bhopal.
6. The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2024 began yesterday in Doha, Qatar. Competitions will be held in 40 categories – 20 each at the junior and youth levels.
