1. In Kho Kho World Cup 2025, the Indian women’s team stormed into the semi-finals after defeating Bangladesh 109-16 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The team, led by captain Priyanka Ingle, delivered an outstanding performance and dominated all four turns of the match.

2. In the India Open Badminton tournament, the Indian duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy reached the men’s doubles semifinal. They defeated the South Korean duo of Jin Yong and Kang Min-hyuk 21-10, 21-17 in the men’s doubles quarterfinal at K. D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

3. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI, has released the much-awaited schedule for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. The third season of WPL will commence with the match between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Giants on the 14th of February at the BCA Stadium in Baroda. All the matches will begin at 07:30 PM. This time, Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai will host the T20 tournament. The final leg of the tournament will unfold in Mumbai at the Cricket Club of India.

4. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI, unveiled a 10-point policy to promote discipline and unity in the team. The policy makes domestic cricket mandatory, imposes restrictions on the presence of families and personal staff on tours and a ban on individual commercial endorsements during ongoing series.

Recently, the Indian Cricket Team lost the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and earlier lost to New Zealand in a home series.

5. The President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Sports Awards 2024 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. World Chess Champion D. Gukesh, double medalist at the Paris Olympics Manu Bhaker, Men’s Hockey Team Captain Harmanpreet Singh, and gold medalist at the Paris Paralympics Praveen Kumar were honoured with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.

6. Rohit Sharma is set to remain India’s ODI captain, as confirmed by the BCCI’s announcement that he will lead the press conference on January 18, during which the squads for the Champions Trophy and the ODI series against England will be revealed.
