PARIS PARALYMPICS .
Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Sumit Antil and shot-put star Bhagyashri Jadhav will be flagbearers of the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympics.
The Paralympic Games will take place from 28th August to 8th September this year.
In Paris Paralympics, 84 athletes will represent India. This is the country’s largest-ever contingent in a Paralympic games. A total of 54 athletes had represented country in Tokyo Paralympics.
2. Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday. Vinesh received a grand welcome from the fans, who had gathered at the airport hours before her arrival.
In Paris Olympics she was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight before the Women’s 50kg final bout.
Vinesh had to stay back in Paris as she had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport- CAS, for a joint silver medal. Her appeal was eventually dismissed.
