(a) In Women’s Singles pre-quarterfinal match. Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu lost to An Se-young of South Korea in Women’s Singles at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. South Korea’s An Se-young won 21-19, 21-11.
(b) In men’s Singles, Lakshya Sen recorded a stunning three-game win over Danish World No 3 Anders Antonsen with a 2nd round win at the All England Championships & progress to the quarter-finals.
3. The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, has inaugurated a unique talent hunt event called KIRTI (Khelo India Rising Talent Identification) in Chandigarh. This nationwide programme, under the Khelo India mission, aims to identify talented athletes between the ages of 9 and 18 years, currently enrolled in schools across the country.
