2. Hockey India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Telangana to host the Women’s 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad from March 8 to 14 this year,

3. The Central Government has notified the National Sports Governance (National Sports Bodies) Rules, 2026 under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. The Rules set new standards for integrity and inclusivity. It provide the framework for the inclusion of Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit, composition of the General Body and Executive Committee, election procedures, and disqualification criteria for members of National Sports Bodies and Regional Sports Federations.

3. Virat Kohli has surpassed Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket. Achieving the feat during the first ODI against New Zealand, Kohli now trails only Sachin Tendulkar in total international runs.

Virat Kohli went past Sangakkara’s tally of 28,016 international runs during his fluent 93-run knock.

With this, Kohli now has 28,068 runs across Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals. He now stands second only to Sachin Tendulkar, who leads the list with 34,357 runs.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the General Budget in Parliament on Sunday, February 1, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced on Monday.

2. Net direct tax collections in the country grew 8.82 per cent to over 18.38 lakh crore rupees in the current financial year so far. The collection includes net corporate tax receipts of 8.63 lakh crore rupees, while taxes from non-corporates, stood at 9.30 lakh crore rupees between 1st of April and 11th of January.
