1. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 73rd All India Police Wrestling Cluster tournament in Lucknow. Thirty-four police force teams from Central, State, and Union Territories across the country are participating in this competition. The 73rd All India Police Wrestling Cluster 2024 event is being held in Lucknow from September 9 to 13.

2. Arunachal men’s badminton team scripted history on Sunday as they won the Yonex-Sunrise Northeast Zone Inter-State Badminton Team Championship crown for the first time in Guwahati. They had defeated Tripura and Manipur in the quarterfinals and the semifinals, respectively.

3. Wrestler and Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat has been fielded by the Congress party from the Julana assembly segment for the upcoming Haryana assembly polls. However, her uncle Mahavir Phogat, who is unhappy with her decision expressed that she could have chosen not to enter politics at this stage and could have done so after 2028.

Polling in Haryana will take place on October 5 while the counting of votes for the elections to the 90-member assembly will take place on October 8.

The Indian contingent concluded its historic Paris Paralympics campaign with 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals, marking the country’s best performance in the competition’s history. India also crossed the 50-medal mark in Paralympic Games history with this impressive performance.

China topped the Paralympics medals table with 220 medals, including 94 golds, after all events were completed on the final day of competition on Sunday.

Great Britain finished second in Paris with 49 golds, followed by the United States, which claimed 36 titles.

5. Aryna Sabalenka won the 2024 U.S. Open women’s singles final, and her third Grand Slam crown with a thrilling victory over a gallant Jessica Pegula in a rollercoaster final on Saturday.

World number two Sabalenka triumphed 7-5, 7-5 to add the New York title to her back-to-back Australian Open victories.

6. Jannik Sinner, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, clinched his second Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open, defeating Taylor Fritz in a thrilling final. This victory marked a remarkable comeback for Sinner, who faced significant challenges leading up to the tournament.
