1. Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi suffered a shattering semifinal loss to top Uzbek player Nodirbek Abdusattorov at the World Blitz Championship in Doha yesterday. 22-year-old Erigaisi settled for a bronze medal.
2. The 44th Junior National Kho Kho Championship started at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Gunjur, Bengaluru, yesterday. Around 1,000 young athletes from states and union territories across India are competing in boys’ and girls’ categories.

The championship was held in Bengaluru from December 26 to 29 and featured the country’s top emerging talent across age groups and disciplines.
