1. Khel Mahakumbh, a celebration of sports and culture, is being organised in Sangam, Prayagraj. The sports festival celebrates traditional sports and promotes a sense of sportsmanship among athletes nationwide.
The seven day Khel Mahakumbh features traditional and a range of contemporary sports such as Kabaddi, Wrestling, Kho-Kho, Archery, and Yoga.
2. Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, World Champion, India’s D Gukesh has qualified for the knockout stage. Gukesh progressed to the next stage despite losing to Norway’s Magnus Carlsen.
3. 38th National Games Highlights
(a) In the Women’s Discus Throw (1kg), Haryana’s Seema emerged victorious with a gold medal. Meanwhile, in the Men’s Discus Throw (2kg), Gagandeep Singh from Services clinched the top spot.
(b) The Men’s 1500-meter race saw Services’ Yunus Shah claim the gold medal, while in the Women’s category, Delhi’s Chandana secured first place.
(c) In 100-meter sprint, Odisha’s Animesh Kujur sprinted to gold in the men’s category,
Services currently lead the National Games 2025 medals table with 42 gold medals, 16 silvers and 13 bronze. Karnataka are second.
4. The International Football Federation (FIFA) has suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after it failed to amend its constitution as required for the smooth and fair governance of the sport in the country.
